The Sydney Off Road Racing Association (SORRA) is joining forces with Toyosports to deliver an exciting spread of motorsport in New South Wales this weekend.

Taking place at the Colo Motor Sport Complex, the clubs will be hosting combined khanacross and autocross events, inviting drivers from both clubs and disciplines to take part in a stacked weekend of grassroots competition.

The weekend will be made up of a series of tests using various layouts - each course designed to test the driver’s skill and judgement, as well as the acceleration, braking and manoeuvrability of the vehicles, and participants will have the opportunity to complete each test once in each direction.

Saturday will see round two of SORRA’s 2023 khanacross season take centre stage, as well its free driver training program, which is open to drivers aged 12 and up and helps build confidence behind the wheel before competing.

Toyosports’ autocross will follow on Sunday, and drivers are encouraged to take part in both the khanacross and autocross to be considered eligible for outright trophies being given out at the end of the weekend.

The combined nature of the event will make for a highly competitive weekend, with the 31 drivers required to prove their skill across both events in what is sure to be a tough fight for the top honours.

Among the entrants is Kyle Kilpinen-Hughes who finished runner up at SORRA’s first khanacross event of the year in March.

With last round’s winner Marty Del Santo out of the mix, the weekend is shaping up to be a positive one for Hughes for whom the top spot is now open for the taking.

But likely to make that fight for first more difficult is Ruby Martin, who proved her astounding driving skills in round one after a fourth-place finish saw her take home fastest female, fastest junior and fastest overall for her 2WD class.

Sixth and seventh place finishers Adam Panetta and Daniel Aouchan are also in the mix, but with a solid 31 entries, as opposed to last round’s 12, the fight for a trophy will be a thrilling one.

The driver training component of the event will begin at 9am AEST on Saturday, followed by a compulsory driver’s briefing at 12pm before tests commence at approximately 12:30pm.

Drivers competing across both days are invited to camp overnight with an all you can eat pizza dinner to be provided by the clubs.

More information can be found on the SORRA website.

SORRA and Toyocross’ combined event will take place at Colo Motor Sport Complex 22-23 July.
