Calan Williams has continued his good form alongside teammates Nikklas Krutten and Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer after another hard-fought podium finish at the 3 Hours of Nürburgring as part of the GT World Challenge Endurance Cup.
After qualifying fifth in class and 26th outright, Williams had the task of consolidating a third place in the Gold Cup in what was the second stint of the race, then leaving Krutten to hold position to the line to secure yet another podium finish.
The result sees the young Australian and his WRT BMW team remain in first place in the overall class standings.
Also competing in the fourth round of the 2023 season was Alex Peroni, who was behind the wheel of the GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO alongside Florian Scholze and Patrick Assenheimer.
Unfortunately, the Tasmanian and his team had a difficult weekend, qualifying in 43rd overall and 11th in the Bronze Cup before dropping down to 50th overall and 28 laps off the overall winners after multiple issues.
After some great results in the most recent round, the three Aussies in British Formula 4 Championship were unable to repeat their efforts in what was an overall disappointing weekend at Croft Circuit for the trio.
A fifth-place finish in the second race of the weekend for James Piszcyk was the best result to come out of the seventh round of the season, with a pair of eighth place finishes in the other two races tightening things up in the championship top five.
Noah Lisle’s best result came in race three, with a ninth-place finish improving on 12th in the opening race before recording a DNF in race two, while Patrick Heuzenroeder also suffered a retirement, which came in the third race.
Unfortunately, Heuzenroeder was unable to get himself involved in the fight for places inside the top 10 before then either, settling for 13th in race one to then drop to 17th in the second outing.
Another driver who had a weekend to forget was Costa Toparis in the British GB3 Championship, with two finishes outside the top 10 hurting his chances at a top 10 finish in the overall standings.
The New South Welshman improved steadily throughout the weekend, after finishing in 20th in the opening outing.
In his second race, he moved his way up to 15th, which ended up his best result after the third race at Silverstone was cancelled due to wet weather.
Featuring in the same race meeting as Toparis, Cooper Webster amassed a podium finish in race two alongside fourth place in race one, but ultimately dropped points to the championship leader, Tom Mills, with 98 points the difference ahead of the final two rounds.
After claiming an emphatic pole position earlier on in the weekend in New Jersey, some bad luck led to Jesse Lacey having to fight his way from the back of the grid in the United States Formula 4.
The Victorian found himself right where he didn’t want to be after being hit by another driver early on in race one, having to fight back from 18th place to eventually recover with a 10th place finish.
Unfortunately, Lacey was unable to find himself in the hunt in the remaining two races either, with a weekend-best fifth place finish and a seventh place finish the most he could muster.
Just over 15 hours west in the United States, Tom Sargent was unable to get going all weekend long in the Carrera Cup North America, struggling to work his way to the front of the grid after qualifying in sixth at the start of the weekend.
A shortened race one saw the New South Welshman hold the position with only half a dozen laps completed before an incident in race two saw him drop right down to 14th place, only then able to claw his way back to ninth.
