Liquor & Gaming NSW has confirmed Motorsport Australia as the sports controlling body for motorsport events in the state.
Liquor & Gaming NSW has confirmed Motorsport Australia as the sports controlling body for motorsport events in the state.

This approval allows Motorsport Australia the opportunity to further enhance its existing powers in the integrity space, alongside the existing Competition Manipulation and Sport Wagering Policy as part of Motorsport Australia’s broader National Integrity Framework.

The recognition allows Motorsport Australia to have greater oversight of the betting market, including disallowing contingencies that may be a risk of manipulation, and working with betting operators and Liquor & Gaming NSW to identify any suspicious betting.

Motorsport Australia CEO Eugene Arocca thanked the NSW Government for its support.

“This is a further vote of confidence in our commitment and dedication to integrity and the extensive policies that are in place to ensure our sport is safe, fair and equitable,” Arocca said.

“Motorsport Australia will work with Liquor & Gaming NSW and Betting Operators to identify any suspicious wagering activity as part of these new powers. Similar agreements are already in place in other states across the country.

“As the only governing body for four-wheel motorsport recognised by the Australian Sports Commission, this additional approval further enhances the sport’s reputation in Australia. Importantly it also provides assurances to competitors and event organisers that events run under Motorsport Australia sanction are supported by these policies that have been approved by the Australian Sports Commission and Sport Integrity Australia.”
