Competitors wanting to compete in the 2023 Motorsport Australia Khanacross Championship have very little time remaining to enter next month’s national competition.

Hosted by the Central Coast Car Club, the first Motorsport Australia National Speed and Auto Test Championship for 2023 will run at Benaraby Motorsports Complex in Queensland and will see competitors potentially complete up to 24 tests across the weekend.

Adding to the challenge will be the variety of surfaces awaiting participants with Saturday’s action to feature tarmac roads and Sunday’s tests to be conducted on gravel.

Entries for the event close at 6pm AEST on Monday 28 August and interested participants can enter via the Motorsport Australia Member Portal.

Secretary of the Event Jamie Overend believed the event's format gave khanacross competitors the unique opportunity to compete on multiple surfaces.

“We’re really looking forward to the event as the current entry list is filled with a combination of high calibre interstate and local competitors,” Overend said.

“It’s quite pleasing to get this event off the ground and create a unique environment where there are a variety of challenges facing drivers.

“Firstly, Saturday’s tarmac track layout is designed to test the skills of manoeuvring a vehicle through a challenging course with tight turns and high-speed corners.

“Then on Sunday, drivers will be met with gravel track layouts that will push them to the limits as they search for grip and speed around a combination of tight, twisty and flowing sections that have been rated by many, including rally drivers, as the best they have raced on.

“We are extremely proud of this facility and I am sure that any driver who attends will thoroughly enjoy themselves – regardless of whether they come away with silverware or not.”

While Scrutineering will take place on the Friday in the lead up to the event, event organisers have now added another scrutineering session on the Saturday morning for pre-booked late arrivals.

Breakfast and dinner options are also available to competitors who book in advance, with the Trophy & Awards Presentation to take place on Sunday afternoon.
