With the 2023 National Speed and Auto Tests now well underway, the Motorsport Australia Supersprint Championship is fast approaching, making an exciting return after Dean Tighe’s victory in 2022.
Hosted by Porsche Club Queensland, the Supersprint Championship will serve as the third event in this year’s National Speed and Auto Test next month. It is set to follow this weekend’s Motorkhana Championship in New South Wales, and last weekend’s Khanacross Championship
which saw Bill Grundon take home his first national title.
Taking place at Queensland’s Morgan Park Raceway, the event will feature two days of racing across 14-15 October, with the National Championship to run alongside rounds seven and eight of the 2023 Shannons Porsche Club Queensland Sprint Championship, and round two of the Shannons Porsche Clubsport Racing Series.
“This is the first time the National Supersprint Championship has taken place in Queensland in nearly a decade,” Kevin Vedelago, Porsche Club Queensland Motorsport Director, said.
“Dean Tighe, the defending champion, has already entered and secured his garage, and he is keen to defend his title.
“We’re also expecting a large road car contingent from another Porsche club to be entering, so it’s going to be very competitive, and will go ahead with whatever numbers we receive, so it’s definitely worth entering.
“The event is going to be over two days, where the last few have only been over one, and we’ll also be offering an additional practice day on the Friday. So, for people who are looking for three days of driving, we can definitely accommodate that.
“We’ll be focusing on the long circuit and giving people the opportunity to learn the track by having a practice on the Saturday morning before timed laps begin on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
“We’ll also be incorporating a Porsche race into the weekend to give competitors something to enjoy when they’re not sprinting or preparing their cars.
“Anyone wanting to compete in or attend the event should quickly get their accommodation organised.”
Entries close on Wednesday 6th October at 4pm AEST (or sooner if maximum of 120 is reached) and registrations can be made
