Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia
The exciting one-make Porsche category put on an exhibition in its one and only race on Sunday, where Lachlan Bloxsom claimed an emphatic victory in a thriller over Oscar Targett and Aron Shields.
After stalling on the line, Bloxsom fought his way back through the field to take advantage of a plethora of incidents between Marco Giltrap, Targett and Shields to find himself in the lead of the race.
A last gasp attempt from Targett wasn’t enough to take the win away from Bloxsom but would ultimately be enough to take round honours following back-to-back race wins on Saturday.
The top five would go on to finish within one second of eachother, with Shields rounding out the podium places ahead of the early leader in Giltrap – who would have to settle for fourth ahead of Marcos Flack.
The series leader still nabbed enough points to finish second outright for the round, while the victory for Bloxsom all but confirmed the final spot on the podium.
Workhorse Radical Cup Australia
Another incredible performance from young Alex Gardner in the second and final 50-minute Workhorse Radical Cup Australia race all but secured a deserving round win for the series leader.
Starting from pole position, the Queenslander was barely headed with his closest competitor being Elliott Schutte six seconds behind.
Schutte was in a race of his own for most of the outing, confirming second on the outright podium as Cooper Cutts was more than 20 seconds back by the time he had reached the chequered flag.
Another 14 seconds back was Zig Fuhrmeister, who also claimed third outright for the round after Cutts didn’t take any points away from Saturdays opening race.
Australian Formula Ford Series
The battle between two Sonic Racing teammates went right down to the wire with Matthew Hillyer and Jake Santalucia splitting the race victories on a thrilling Sunday.
It was the champion-elect, Hillyer who striked first in the morning session by taking a narrow win over his teammate by less than three-tenths of a second.
However, that would be the only win for the weekend as Santalucia made it two from three for the weekend with narrow victory of his own, this time ahead of Zak Lobko.
Lobko was the only driver to finish within one second of Santalucia, with the result also promoting him to third outright at rounds end.
Two race wins for Santalucia would ultimately be enough for top round honours, while fourth place for Hillyer in race three meant he would take home second place for the round.
Australian Prototype Series
It was a clean sweep of race wins for Mark Laucke in Australian Prototype Series after taking yet another two race wins on Sunday.
The return of series leader, John Paul-Drake didn’t seem to faze the outright round winner, who crossed the line eight seconds ahead of Scott Bormann in race two before pushing his lead out to more than 30 in the final race.
Drake would make up another position in race three to finish in third, dropping Bormann to fourth but was still enough points for the latter to claim second outright for the round.
Despite his efforts to make up points after missing the rest of the weekends action, Drake would finish fifth outright with Alex Gardner claiming the final spot on the podium ahead of Andrew McKee.
Mobil 1 Australian Production Cars and Monochrome Invited
The combined category continued to put on a show in its second leg of races this weekend, although this time it was Shane Smollen and Ricky Capo who would claim both one-hour enduros to close out the weekend.
The Porsche Cayman 718 was too quick for anyone to contend in both sessions, leading from start to finish while competitors continued to battle for positions behind.
More than 15 seconds back in race one was Karl Begg and Paul Morris, convincingly finishing ahead of Jacob Lawrence and John Bowe by a further 10 seconds.
The fourth and final race of the weekend saw the top two remain the same, although it was Mark Griffith who would take the final podium place this time around.
In APC, Coleby Cowham and Lindsay Kearns made it two out of three wins for the weekend after topping Iain Sherrin in race three, but instead it would be Grant Sherrin who claims the top honours in the final race ahead of Cowham and Kearns.
Burson Auto Parts Hyundai Excels SA
Conor Nash completed a clean sweep of race wins with one final victory ahead of Shayne Nowickyj in race three of Burson Auto Parts Hyundai Excels SA.
It was a dominant display from Nash who once again led from start to finish, crossing the line a mammoth nine seconds ahead of Nowickyj at the chequered flag.
However, the battle for second place was the one to watch, with Mischs Excel Garage teammate, Mitchell McGarry less than half a second behind in third.
To no surprise, Nash would claim the round win after three straight race wins for the weekend, while despite missing out on second place in ace three, McGarry still amassed enough points to take second outright ahead of his teammate.
MARC Cars Australia
Max Vidau claimed the opening race of the day after stepping in for Daniel Stutterd in the rapid MARC GT, crossing the line 13 seconds ahead of another GT in John Goodacre.
Running third was cameron McLeod, who put in a brilliant effort to take the podium place ahead of Geoff Taunton after the latter found himself in a spin cycle late on.
One final outing for MARC Cars saw a more dramatic start to the race, building to a great strategy battle between Geoff Taunton and John Goodcare.
It was Taunton who opted to take his compulsory pit stop first, posting multiple fastest laps before race leader, John Goodacre made his stop with less than 10 minutes to go.
Goodcare was made to chase down Taunton for the remainder of the race, putting on a great show all the way to the chequered flag.
In the end, it was Taunton who would hold on to take the win, his first of the weekend.
Meanwhile, McLeod did and incredible job to stay with the GT’s, locking in another podium position for the day.
