Entries open for Daytona 6 Hour charity race

Motorsport Australia DriveOnCancer Daytona 6 Hour takes place in January.

Entries for the first major Motorsport Australia Esports event for 2024 are now open with the Motorsport Australia DriveOnCancer Daytona 6 Hour to take place in January.

Hosted by Aussie Online Gaming and SimSpeed Esports Network, the race will be held at the Daytona International Speedway road course and will be run on the iRacing platform.

Supporting charity partner, Cure Cancer, all proceeds from the event will be donated to the organisation focused at backing ground-breaking cancer research with brave thinking and new ideas.

The event itself will be dedicated to fundraising for the charity with competitors able to purchase penalties in the spirit of fun, ranging from the ability to issue a drive-through penalty to another competitor or calling on a safety car intervention.

There are three different classes open to competitors, including GTP Class, LMP2 Class and GT3 Class, all of whom will have separate 20-minute qualifying sessions ahead of the six-hour race.

Entry to this event is a $30 donation to Cure Cancer and can be done here. With the field to be capped at 50 teams, a maximum of six drivers can compete for a team.

Interested participants do not need to have a Motorsport Australia Esport Licence to compete, however they will not be eligible to win the prize.

In addition to donating to the charity, each member of the winning team will also take home a Next Level Racing Pro Gaming Chair Leather & Suede Edition.
