The Historic Racing Car Club Queensland (HRCCQ) will make history when it hosts racing under lights for the first time in July.

It’s also providing an exciting opportunity for volunteer officials to take part in the event with applications now open.

Hosting the Shannons Motorsport Festival Celebrating 60 years of Mustang, the three-day event will be taking place at Queensland Raceway over a busy schedule and will have something for all fans to enjoy.

Making up the event will be a host of regular categories including historic open wheelers, Group N and Group S tin tops, HRCC Regularity cars, historic Group U and invited sprint racing cars.

All categories will be in action over the weekend, while Saturday’s historic day will also feature an Inter-Club Challenge and 50-car Queensland Porsche Club sprint day, which will have sessions run all the way until 10pm.

In addition to the racing action, Shannons will also be hosting a show and shine with hundreds of cars on display and will be running parade laps and special demonstration laps on the Saturday.

There is no experience required for interested volunteers, with trainee positions also available, giving attendees the opportunity to get some exposure to the sport by getting the best seat in the house.

Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided to all officials, who can register a place by emailing event secretary Benn Gregory at benngregory1@gmail.com.

For those who want to come as a spectator, tickets for the event can be purchased at the gate, with prices starting from $20, while Friday’s action free of charge.
