Seven different categories put on a show in perfect conditions at EVENTelec Race Queensland – the fifth round of the Shannons SpeedSeries.
Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge
The only category to hold a race on Friday saw a close battle in the 25 minute race under the setting sun.
Grove Racing’s Oscar Targett converted his pole position from earlier in the day into a strong race win – edging out his nearest competitors by more than five seconds.
In second was Brock Gilchrist, with Ayrton Hodson rounding out the podium.
Trico Trans Am Series
Todd Hazelwood claimed pole position in a tight tussle during the late afternoon qualifying session.
Hazelwood staked his claim for a strong weekend with a 1:10.938 – more than a tenth fastest than Nathan Herne in second. Hazelwood sits equal second on the points standings heading into this round, so today’s pole puts him in a strong position with four races to come across Saturday and Sunday.
Elliot Cleary finished the session third fasts, while James Golding and Edan Thornburrow finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Series leader James Moffat will have some work on his hands, the Victorian only managing to qualify ninth fastest.
Trico Trans Am Series first race takes place at 11.40am AEST on Saturday, with live and free coverage on 7+.
