Bumper crowd enjoys Queensland action

More than 18,000 motorsport fans enjoyed a stunning day out at EVENTelec Race Queensland, round five of Shannons SpeedSeries.

With plenty of action on and off track, fans were provided with plenty to see and do, as the weekend ended in celebrations at Queensland Raceway.

A host of winners across the weekend were celebrated, with six categories in action on Sunday – the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia wrapping their weekend on Saturday night.

For those in action today, here’s how the day panned out:

Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series
Two races made up Sunday’s action for the TCR Australia crews. Race 2 was a reverse grid race, before the day’s final race saw plenty of action.

Race 2 winner: Ryan Casha

Trico Trans Am Series
With four races for the weekend, Sunday saw epic battles across the two races, with a provisional round win to Todd Hazelwood – his first in the category.

Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS
Another one hour sprint race was less chaotic than Saturday’s outing, but saw plenty of fierce battles throughout the field and in the respective classes.

Monochrome GT4 Australia Series
A three hour enduro set the scene for GT4 competitors, with an early morning enduro featuring plenty of thrills and spills.

Giti Australian Formula Open
The open wheelers put on a show at the iconic ‘paperclip’ that is Queensland Raceway. With plenty of young talent on show, the drivers impressed across their two races.

Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia Scholarship Series
A huge rollover in race three was one of the biggest crashes across the weekend, with all drivers involved walking away from the crash unharmed. While there was an extended safety car following the incident, there was plenty of overtaking and excitement in the rest of the day’s actions, as the future stars of Australian motorsport put their best foot forward.
