Team Australia announced ahead of 2024 FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia

Monday 07 October, 2024
Team Australia is locked in for the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games.
Australia is set for a strong showing at the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games, with a talented group of competitors representing the nation across several key motorsport disciplines.

The games will take place from October 23-27 in Valencia, Spain, bringing together racers from around the globe to compete in a variety of motorsport categories.

Griffin Peebles will represent Australia in Formula 4, one of the highlighted disciplines of the event. Fresh off a 2024 Formula Winter Series victory in March, Griffin will compete on the international stage once again, showcasing his skills in this prestigious racing series.

In the Auto Slalom category, Australia will be represented by Corinne East-Johnston and Reece McIntosh. The duo will compete as a mixed-gender team, a requirement for the discipline at this year’s games. Auto Slalom, also known as motorkhana, demands exceptional precision and agility, with both drivers ready to take on this technical challenge.

East-Johnston is a Motorsport Australia NSW Motorkhana Championship stalwart and three-time Motorsport Australia Motorkhana Championship winner, while McIntosh is a regular podium contender in both Championships.

Australia’s Esports competitors include Jake Burton, racing in the iRacing category, and Philippa Boquida in the Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC) division. Both competitors are well-prepared to battle it out against some of the world's top virtual drivers having secured their places in last month’s 2024 Motorsport Australia MOZA Racing FIA Motorsport Games Esports Qualifier.

In Karting, Pip Casabene will represent Australia in the Senior division, while Riley Harrison and Jay Kostecki will compete in the Junior and Cadet categories, respectively. Karting remains a crucial stepping stone in motorsport development, and these young drivers are set to make their mark in this competitive field.

A participant in the 2023 Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) Asia Pacific and Oceania Selection Program, Casabene comes to the senior division with a wealth of experience, while Harrison boasts local and international karting victories and Kostecki fresh off a third-place finish in the Australian Cadet 12 Championship.
