Entries for the Black Diamond Drilling Kalgoorlie Desert Race have now closed, with the stage set ahead of the 2024 BFGoodrich Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship (AORC) season finale.

Kalgoorlie will come alive as 95 competitors head to the region to decide the 2024 Champion after a previous four rounds of racing.

Fresh off their Markwell Group Gold City 450 victory, Mel and Liam Brandle headline the entrants for the West Australian edition of the Championship – the father-and-son duo currently sits top of the outright driver and navigator standings heading into the final outing.

Beau Robinson and Shane Hutt will taking their Trophy Truck for their final appearance of 2024 in their home state, with the pair no doubt looking to redeem the Queensland DNF last month that dropped them out of the championship lead. The West Aussies are 216 points adrift of the South Australian Pro Lite crew.

As an extra incentive for this year’s title race, ‘points and a half’ are on offer for crews – with 900 points on offer for the round winner in both the AORC and SXS Championships.

Spectators will get the chance to see James Cook and Mitch Aucote in action for the first time since this year’s Tatts Finke Desert Race, with the Victorians finishing third in the famous fixture in Alice Springs.

James Mogford and Michael Mogford will make their fifth consecutive AORC/SXS appearance in Kalgoorlie, currently sitting third in the outright standings ahead of the final round. The pair currently lead the Transportable Shade Sheds SXS Championship, holding a 192 point lead over Glenn Brinkman.

The top-five competitors in 2024 so far will all be represented this month, with Glen Ackroyd and Michael Price taking their podium challenge to Kalgoorlie.

A notable top-10 absence from the entrance list is Roydn Bailey and Simon Herrmann, who will be hoping Thomas Stephens and Toby Stephens aren’t able to knock them out of ninth position.

Spectator information for the event can be found here.

The 2024 Black Diamond Drilling Kalgoorlie Desert Race will serve as the fifth and final round of the AORC season taking place in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia on 24 August – 27 October.
