The Rolex 24 At Daytona has wrapped up, with Australian driver Matt Campbell and the Porsche Penske Motorsport team securing podium finish with third place.

Campbell, alongside teammates Mathieu Jaminet and Kevin Estre, drove their Porsche 963 a solid 781 laps, narrowly missing out on victory in a fierce battle with those ahead.

Despite a challenging start in practice and qualifying, Campbell and his teammates maintained a consistent pace throughout the race, jumping from P10 to P3.

In the LMP2 category, James Allen delivered a strong performance with United Autosports USA, finishing 9th outright, with a post-race penalty elevating the #22 Oreca to the LMP2 class win.

Josh Burdon, also in the LMP2 class, had an impressive recovery after starting from 18th in qualifying.

Racing for Riley, Burdon helped push the team from P21 to P10, with a total of 765 laps completed, matching Allen’s result.

In the GTD class, Tom Sargent with Wright Motorsports showed solid endurance in his Porsche 911 GT3 R, finishing 27th overall after 719 laps.

Despite qualifying in 32nd, Sargent’s steady performance helped the team remain competitive throughout the gruelling race, though they ultimately couldn’t break into the higher ranks.

Patrick Heuzenroeder delivered a standout performance in Round 3 of the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship (CTFROC) at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon, securing two podium finishes and demonstrating his impressive overtaking skills despite challenging weather conditions.

Heuzenroeder, who has now made nearly 30 overtakes this season, started the weekend strong, qualifying P6 in a highly competitive session.

In Race 1, he showed excellent race craft, moving from P6 to P4, before being promoted to P3 due to a penalty to his teammate Pierson, marking Heuzenroeder’s first podium of the season.

In the Dan Higgins Trophy race, Heuzenroeder displayed his adaptability once again, securing a well-deserved P3 despite tricky weather conditions and a red-flag interruption, earning his second podium of the weekend.

Heuzenroeder’s consistent performance has moved him up in the championship standings, now being two points off fourth place overall.

The young Australian reflected on his success.

“It’s great to be on the podium with two third places,” Heuzenroeder said.

“I’m feeling confident and can’t wait for the next race at Teretonga.”
