GT World Challenge Asia – Indonesia
The second round of GT World Challenge Asia saw several Australian drivers in action at Mandalika International Circuit, Indonesia.
New South Wales duo Andrew Macpherson and William Porter showed steady improvement across the weekend. After qualifying 16th for Race One, they finished in 29th, however Race Two saw the pair make an impressive recovery, charging their Porsche 911 GT3 R from last to 19th.
Racing for Craft-Bamboo Racing, Australian Jayden Ojeda and teammate Qi Cao performed strongly, finishing within the top 10 for both races.
Ojeda and Cao were able to maintain their position throughout Race One, securing ninth after 31 laps of racing.
The pair’s highlight for the weekend was pole position for Race Two, however an unfortunate pit stop penalty relegated the duo from a healthy six-second lead to ninth place.
West Australian Jordan Love and Malaysian teammate Prince Abu Baker Ibrahim were consistent, placing their Chevrolet Corvette ZO6 GT3 R in eighth in both races. The Johor Motorsport Racing duo also took sixth in Pro-Am, earning additional championship points.
The next round takes place at Chang International Circuit, Thailand on 30 May.

Indy NXT – Indianapolis
Australian driver Lochie Hughes his continued his dominant start to the 2025 Firestone Indy NXT Series, securing his first two career poles and his maiden race win at Indianapolis.
Hughes took pole for Race One and converted it into a victory, finishing ahead of teammate Dennis Hauger.
In Race Two, the Aussie again claimed pole but was overtaken early by Hauger, who went on to win.
Hughes powered through and finished in second, securing his second podium of the weekend.
Fellow Australian Tommy Smith also competed in Indianapolis and finished 19th in the first race before a DNF in Race Two.
The next round of the 2025 Firestone Indy NXT Series heads to Detroit for a street race on 1 June.

IndyCar – Indianapolis
Round five of the 2025 NTT IndyCar Series took place at Indianapolis for the Sonsio Grand Prix, where Australian Will Power claimed a podium finish.
The two-time IndyCar Champion has enjoyed a strong start to his 2025 season, finishing as the top Team Penske driver in three of the last four races.
The Toowoomba driver secured third place in Saturday’s race, with teammate Scott McLaughlin close behind in fourth. This marks Power’s fourth consecutive top-six finish, reinforcing his consistent form this season.
IndyCar returns to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on 25 May, for the 109th Indianapolis 500.

IMSA SportsCar Championship – Monterey
Australian star Matt Campbell and teammate Mathieu Jaminet took victory at Monterey, with both sharing second place in the championship standings.
Qualifying in second, Campbell drove the opening stint but faced a setback when his anti-stall system activated after contact 45 minutes into the race, dropping him from third to fifth. However, Campbell fought back to rejoin the lead battle, eventually taking the win ahead of Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy.
This marks Campbell’s 13th IMSA win and the duo’s first victory together since Virginia International Raceway in 2022.
The next round of the 2025 IMSA Sportscar Championship is the Detroit Grand Prix on 30 May.

USF2000 – Indianapolis
Eddie Beswick had a successful weekend at Indianapolis, scoring points in both races of USF2000.
Starting 16th in Race One, the Aussie delivered a strong drive to finish ninth.
Beswick repeated his the feat in Race Two, again taking ninth place, just 1.4 seconds behind Benchmark Autosport’s Ayrton Houk.
The 2025 USF2000 continues with a Series Test on 13 May at Lexington, Ohio, preparing the drivers for round eight back at Indianapolis.

World Endurance Championship – 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps
Australian father-and-son pairing Stephen and Brenton Grove drove a superb race in their Mercedes-AMG, climbing from last on the grid to 12th in the LMGT3. They completed 136 laps, finishing just 2.5 seconds behind the #61 Iron Lynx.
Meanwhile, fellow Australian Yasser Shahin and teammates Timur Boguslavskiy and Augusto Farfus qualified 12th but retired their BMW M4 early due to a racing incident.
The next round is the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans on 14-15 June.

NZ Rally Championship – South Canterbury Rally
Several Australian crews competed in New Zealand’s Rally South Canterbury, delivering incredible results.
Larisa Biggar, co-driving for Caleb Macdonald in a Mitsubishi Evo 6, extended their led in the 4WD Trophy Challenge after also winning the opening round at the Otago Rally. The duo finished sixth outright at Rally South Canterbury, their best result yet.
Fellow Queenslander Neill Woolley co-drove for Josh Keighley in a Subaru Magnum H6, taking second in the 4WD Trophy Challenge and eighth outright.
Stewart Reid, alongside New Zealander Bella Haggerty, won Class F in the Allcomers category in their Ford Escort.
Queenslanders Richard Galley and Claire Buccini finished third in Class C in their BMW 320i.
Aussie co-driver Ben Searcy and New Zealander Emma Gilmour unfortunately retired their Citroën C3 Rally2 on the penultimate stage.
NZRC’s next round is Rally Canterbury in Christchurch on 1 June.
