The Motorsport Australia NSW Motor Race Championship hosted its third round of the 2025 season, featuring six different categories throughout a jam-packed day of action at Sydney Motorsport Park on Saturday.

The RX8 Cup enjoyed a showcase of talent from its drivers, with the slimmest of margins dominating the final podium standings from the weekend’s racing.

Race wins proved to be the marginal difference, as Robert Scott took home the round’s top performance, headlined by his Race One win to finish the round on 106 points. Scott placed third in all other races for the category that weekend.

Jackson Noakes would have to settle for a runners up placing, despite also finishing on 106 points, and making the podium in all four races on Saturday.

A win for Aaron Hills in Race Three was enough to place him in third for the round.

It was a dominant performance for Matthew Birks in the Improved Production U2L & O2L Championship, with the IRPA Bathurst Cup Under 2L champion winning all three races on the day in his Toyota Corolla to take out a maximum of 150 points in Under 2L and setting a Personal best lap time with a 1:41.2 in his final race of the day.

Ben Algie, in Over 2L, secured 145 points after winning two races and finishing second in his final race aboard his Nissan 200SX.

A strong Qualifying race set the tone for a strong round in the NSW Superkart Championship for Laurie Fooks.

After earning Pole Position, Fooks secured wins in Races One, Two and Four, however a DNF in Race Three the only blemish on the weekend for the Raider driver.

Woodgate Evo driver Mark Vickers also had a commendable Saturday, securing multiple podium positions throughout the event.

The NSW Sports Sedans & Production Sports Car Championship was well in control by JS Racing’s Brad Shiels, who won comfortably by five seconds in Qualifying to get his event off on the right foot.

Shiels followed up his performance with a seven-second win in Race One, then a 37-second win in Race Two, and four-second win in final race.

The Supersports & Prototype Championship category enjoyed a good spread of race winners.

Carmelo Bonaventura and John-Paul Drake (Prototype) won their respective first race, while Mark Brame and Gary Patel (Prototype) won their respective second race for the category.

Action was rounded out in the NSW Formula Vee Championship, with Craig Sparke almost completing a clean sweep of wins, racing to victories in Qualifying, and the first two races.

An incident in Race Three with Darren Williams cut Sparke’s race short, setting up a one-two finish for father-son duo Simon and Aaron Pace, with the former finishing ahead of his son by less than a thousandth of a second.

The fourth round of the Motorsport Australia NSW Motor Race Championship returns to Sydney Motorsport Park next month on Saturday 26 July for another Day/Night event.
