Aussies impress across the globe

British F4 – Oulton Park

Rising Australian star Jimmy Piszcyk secured a superb third win in the 2025 British F4 Championship season after a dramatic Oulton Park race weekend.

The 18 year old entered the fifth round sitting third in the Drivers’ Championship, with victories at Silverstone already to his name.

Piszcyk immediately showed dominance in Friday testing, topping the timesheets in the first practice and setting the quickest lap of the day.

With hopes of turning that pace into a strong qualifying performance, the session involved track limits infringements for Piszcyk that meant several fast laps were deleted, resulting in 11th place.

Despite avoiding a chaotic incident at the start of Race One, Piszcyk was limited to a 13th finish, two spots higher than his starting position.

The Adelaide driver’s performance shone in Race Two, where he started second on the grid.

A lightning getaway from Piszcyk enabled him to jump pole sitter Henry Mercier into Old Hall corner to assume the lead.

Piszcyk was in control of his position, after which he made no mistakes and cruised home for a fantastic third victory, his fifth in British F4.

Piszcyk started the last race from 11th, looking to make up ground on this occasion.

Another excellent launch when the lights went out moved him up two places, before passing Rowan Campbell-Pilling at the Knickerbrook chicane for eighth.

Piszcyk adapted well to changing weather conditions, securing fourth on slick tyres before a red flag ended the race early.

The Aussie sits just 31 points from the series lead in third overall with five rounds left and still all to play for.

“It’s been a really good end to the weekend and obviously really happy to get that third win of the season in Race Two,” Piszcyk said.

“We managed the gap and got the lead very quickly with the best start, and from then just did everything we could to minimise the issues on track and come home with the win.

“Qualifying didn’t go how I really wanted but we maximised what we had on Sunday and chipped away with some good results to keep us right in the mix. Excited to continue the fight.”

Australian driver Xavier Avramides also ticked off another successful weekend at Oulton Park.

After a disappointing Qualifying result of 17th, Avramides stayed positive and gained positions to finish Race One in 11th and third for the Rookies Cup.

This strong recovery helped the Aussie fight his way to 13th during Race Two, before making contact with another driver, resulting in a puncture and a 19th race result.

This result didn’t distract Avramides, with strong steps forward in the final race to finish the weekend with 14th.

The 2025 British F4 Championship continues at Zandvoort on 26-27 July.

IMSA SportsCar Championship – Watkins Glen

Australian driver Matt Campbell and teammate Mathieu Jaminet delivered a strong performance at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.

Campbell and Jaminet started the weekend with a solid Qualifying result, securing eighth with a time of 1:33.323.

Their Porsche 963 started strongly, holding the lead for the first three hours. As a result, the duo received five points for leading the race at the three hour mark.

Campbell and Jaminet struggled with tyre degradation, costing them pace. This resulted in the pair finishing fourth, a good achievement for Porsche Penske Motorsport.

Aussie Josh Burdon and his teammates delivered an impressive performance, improving their position during the six hours.

Burdon and the Riley team placed their Oreca 07 LMP2 in 20th for the race, with determination to push their way higher in the grid.

The team showed strong pace, gaining places to cross the finish line in 15th, just behind the Era Motorsport car #18.

Tom Sargent and Scott Andrews both made improvements for their teams during the race weekend.

Sargent and teammates Elliott Skeer and Adam Adelson qualified P51, and experienced a tough race after taking heavy damage about three hours in.

This pushed the Wright Motorsports team four laps down as they repaired the damage.

Yet, the team executed a strong second half of the race, pushing forward to only a lap behind the field, securing 39th.

Andrews and his teammates also struggled in Qualifying, starting last for the race.

However, the Lone Star Racing team made an improvement during the six hours, advancing their 55th to 52nd.

The next round takes place on 11-13 July for the Chevrolet Grand Prix at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

USF2000 – Elkhart Lake

The 2025 USF2000 Championship at Road America is complete, with Australian Eddie Beswick securing two top 10 race results.

Beswick began the weekend by securing 15th in Qualifying, with a time of 2:09.0191.

The Aussie showed incredible pace in Race One, promoting himself to ninth by the end of the race, collected 12 points.

The second race saw Beswick continue his speed, starting in 12th behind Jay Howard Driver Development’s Timothy Carel and finishing tenth.

The Aussie collected an additional 11 points, totalling 23 points for the weekend, supporting his 15th place in the driver standings.

The 2025 USF2000 Championship resumes on 3-6 July for the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington.

Italian F4 – Monza

Round 3 of the 2025 Italian F4 Championship was highly eventful for Australian Dante Vinci.

Race One saw Vinci make an incredible start to the weekend to finish within the top ten, coming home with sixth overall and second for the Rookie class.

Due to a mechanical issue during the formation lap, Vinci was forced to retire from the second race.

The final race was also unlucky for the Aussie, getting caught in a collision with Prema Racing’s Salim Hanna, sending Vinci into the barriers.

Vinci was battling for fifth when a collision with Salim Hanna sent him into the barriers, leaving him in last place.

Vinci intends to rest and prepare to come back stronger for the next round in Mugello on 11-13 July.

Indy NXT – Road America

Australian driver Tommy Smith wrapped up his Indy NXT weekend at Road America in Elkhart Lake.

Smith qualified 18th for the 20-lap race but could not move past 17th.

The Aussie was able to get more comfortable towards the end of the race and is looking forward to the next round in Lexington, Ohio.
