GT Festival Sandown makes grand return to Melbourne

Motorsport enthusiasts from around the country will descend on Sandown International Raceway in the coming days as part of the Shannons Speed Series GT Festival Sandown.

The three-day event will begin from tomorrow and will conclude in the twilight hours of Sunday, with a full slate of events and races for onlookers to enjoy.

After a productive mid-season break, the 2025 GT World Challenge Australia resumes this weekend with a 14-car grid set to take on Sandown International Raceway.

Marking the series’ first return to Sandown since 2022, the event will see an almost unchanged entry list from Queensland Raceway, featuring Australia’s GT3 machines as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries bumper GT Festival Sandown from 25-27 July.

A notable addition to the grid is the return of series veteran Marc Cini, making his first appearance of the year.

He will share the Hallmarc/Melbourne Performance Centre Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II alongside former Supercars driver Lee Holdsworth.

While Cini and Holdsworth have a wealth of experience racing the Audi together, after multiple Bathurst 12 Hour campaigns, this weekend’s GT Festival Sandown marks Holdsworth’s official debut in the GT World Challenge Australia.

Also firming up the three days of action will be the Trico Trans Am Series, First Focus Radical Cup Australia, Battery World Racing Cars, and the Monochrome GT4 Series which resumes its season for the first time since 1 June.

Drivers will feature across all three classes in the 28-car entry list locked in for the fourth round of the 2025 season.

Most importantly, Monochrome GT4 Australia fans will have plenty of opportunities to see the cars competing for valuable series points, with a one-hour race on both Saturday and Sunday, with Sunday’s outing to see the return of the Free Grid Walk.
