AU4 season tightens at SMSP

The AU4 Championship joined the national Motorsport Australia Trophy Tour at Sydney Motorsport Park over the weekend, with the Gen2 and Gen1 classes delivering three hard-fought races among perfect racing conditions for Round 4 of the season.

Qualifying set the tone for the weekend, with AGI Sport’s Noah Killion and Volante Rosso’s Isaac McNeill swapping fastest lap times, while Killion edged McNeill and Tim Macrow Racing’s Harrison Duske in Q1. McNeill responded in Q2 with Duske and Killion close behind.

In Gen1 qualifying, Andrew Fitzpatrick (Fitzpatrick Racing) set the early pace, with Jensen Marold (AGI Sport), Koby Wilson (AGI Sport) and Chloe Lane (Tim Macrow Racing) keeping the pressure on before the afternoon’s race one.

In Gen1, Marold continued his unbeaten run with another class win in race one ahead of Fitzpatrick and Wilson. Killion converted pole position into race victory after a tense duel with McNeill, with Duske completing the Gen2 podium.

Race Two again went to Killion, holding off Duske in a close finish, but it was a monster set of moves by McNeill to claim third.

De’Argo Stewart (AGI Sport) went off at turn 18 on the final lap, requiring the crew to repair the damaged nose of his Mygale ahead of race three, but it did not red-flag the race.

The Gen1 class again finished with Marold, Fitzpatrick and Wilson in one-two-three.

The weekend concluded with McNeill striking back in Gen2, converting pole position into victory ahead of Killion. Cohen Kokotovich, still managing issues after a previous-round incident, stepped into the Gotch Tatuus for the final race and fought with Burton and Duske for a podium spot.

Marold completed a hard-fought sweep in Gen1 for the round win, ahead of a charging Fitzpatrick and Wilson, with Stewart showing real grit to finish fourth.

The Gen2 round win went to Killion, with McNeill second and Burton third. The Gen1 round win mirrored the race results, with Marold followed by Fitzpatrick and Wilson.

Heading into the final round this month, the Gen2 class championship is still very much on the line. Just two points separate leader McNeill (236) and Killion (234), setting up a winner- takes-all showdown.

Marold took out the 2025 Gen1 championship last weekend with a round to spare on an untouchable 317 points. This leaves Fitzpatrick (198) and Wilson (180) to battle it out for the second and third place standings at the end of the month.

The 2025 Motorsport Australia AU4 Championship will wrap up at Sydney Motorsport Park on 28–29 September.
