Weekend Warm-Up: 5-7 September

The motorsport calendar moves into September on the back of a jam-packed August, with events ranging from large-scale motoring festivals to grassroots club-run meetings, showcasing the wide range of motorsport on offer in Australia.

Round 5 of the Shannons SpeedSeries will pitch up in Tailem Bend this weekend for its busiest stop of the year at Shell-V Motorsport Park with 21 hours of on-track action scheduled from today through until Sunday, featuring a broad agenda of categories such as GT World Challenge Australia, Monochrome GT4 Australia and First Focus Radical Cup Australia.

On the East Coast, excitement is brewing ahead of the 2025 World Time Attack Challenge at Sydney Motorsport Park starting today and concluding tomorrow. The annual event runs four classes; Clubsprint, Open, Pro Am and Pro. The fastest five cars in each class at the end of the last session on Day 2 get a bonus round called Superlap Shootout, which will typically see the fastest laps of the cars participating.

For the first time, World Time Attack will host a Hypercar Challenge, bringing together four exceptional machines, the Pagani Zonda R, Pagani Huayra R, Brabham BT62, and Ferrari FXX.

At the State Championship level, the Motorsport Australia State Circuit Racing Championship will host Round 4 at Queensland Raceway up until Sunday, as of one of two State Championship events on the weekend.

The Northern Territory will also run, not one, but two events this weekend.

First, the North Australian Motor Sports Club is set to host Round 5 of the Northern Territory Motorkhana Championship at Hidden Valley Raceway – the second State Championship event taking place this weekend.

Second, the Red CentreNats returns today and will attract car lovers from all over Australia for a non-stop weekend of street cruising, drag racing, burn outs and more in the town of Alice Springs.

In other states across the country, Victoria looks forward to the 2025 North Eastern Rallysprint at Moyhu Timber Reserve tomorrow nearby Wangaratta.

Across the Bass Strait, the MG Car Club Of Tasmania and Mini Car Club Of Tasmania are in preparation for its yearly Circuit Sprints event at Baskerville Raceway. South West Touring Car Club will also host Round 5 of its Autocross Series at Speedway Bunbury on Sunday.
