Weekend Warm-Up: 26-28 September

The weather is warming up this spring and so is the motorsport action across the country, with close to 30 permitted events scheduled to take place over the next three days, including three State Championship proceedings.

The Australian Racing Drivers Club will host Round 5 of the 2025 Motorsport Australia NSW Motor Race Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park over Saturday and Sunday, while Westlakes Automobile Club hosts the New South Wales state motorkhana at Awabawac Park on Sunday.

In Western Australia, the Collie Coalfields 500 heads to the motorplex this weekend providing members with the opportunity to compete against the clock in a trial of regularity or to race on a tight, fast and challenging circuit. The event will be hosted by the Vintage Sports Car Club of WA.

The Australian Capital Territory will host an event of its own with the Southern District Motorsport Association hosting a hill climb event on Sunday at Fairbairn Park.

Ten motorsport events at the club level will be scattered across New South Wales. Some events include the Kempsey Sporting Car Club’s Race for Blake Khanacross at Unkya Reserve, the Mini Car Club of New South Wales motorkhana event in Lower Portland and the Thornleigh Car Club’s Dirt N Dust Challenge Colo Khanacross.

The Central Coast Car Club based in Gladstone will host the third round of its Dirt Khanacross Series over both Saturday and Sunday, the Far North Queensland Motorsports Club will host the fourth round of its Gravel Khanacross Series at Tepon Raceway, the MG Car Club of Queensland is in preparation for Round 5 of the Mount Cotton Hillclimb Series, and the Whitsunday Sporting Car Club Association’s Two-Day Khanacross event at Tonka Park rounds out this weekend’s events in the state of Queensland.

In South Australia, a pair of Motorsport Australia’s Girls on Track events are scheduled for early next week, with a Play Well program session on Monday at The Bend Motorsport Park and another session to take place Tuesday at Mallala Motorsport Park.

Victoria’s motorsports schedule will remain modest for this weekend, as the state braces for a busy AFL Grand Final period, however, the Geelong Motorsport Complex will be busy with the Fiat Car Club of Victoria to host a Come and Try Motorkhana session later today and the Geelong Motor Sport Club to host Round 8 of its Non Speed Series and Round 7 of the club’s interclub motorkhana series in partnership with the Western Districts Car Club on Sunday.

Western Desert Racers will host a Test and Tune session at Mount Vetters Station and the WA Sporting Car Club hosts the Tarmac Sportz Series Time Attack/Time Challenge at the Carco.com.au Raceway.
