Top officials gather ahead of exciting 2026 calendar

Australia’s top motorsport officials from around the country gathered at Motorsport Australia House in Melbourne, conducting final preparations ahead of what will be a busy year.

As part of the Motorsport Australia Appointed Officials Seminar, officials engaged in a refresher course of their expectations and responsibilities, while also engaging in presentations, peer discussions, simulations and reflection.

Motorsport Australia CEO Josh Blanksby was excited to welcome the senior officials team in-person for 2026 with the motorsport community bracing for an exciting year of events.

“It was fantastic to have our senior officials together ahead of what promises to be a lively 2026 season,” Blanksby said.

“This particular seminar is an important opportunity to align expectations, share experiences and strengthen the teamwork that makes events run smoothly.

“It also continues to uphold our officials’ reputation as one of the most respected and highly regarded on the international stage, whether it be how each official conducts themselves locally, or overseas at some of the most popular motorsport events on the planet.

“Our officials play a critical role in delivering safe, fair and professional motorsport across the country and internationally. Bringing this group together ensures we’re all prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities of the year ahead.”

The two-day seminar covered a range of topics and focuses held over 31 January and 1 February, ranging from ‘Working as a Team’ to any regulation updates for 2026.

Other topics included learning and refining skills for driver briefing instructions, a refresher on judicial processes and reflections on personal growth and development.

Motorsport Australia Officials Manager Aidan Siegel said the seminar was a great opportunity for officials to meet one another, while also hearing about all of the most current processes and regulations.

“The Appointed Officials Seminar served as a key part for our preparation for this year,” Siegel said.

“It was a great opportunity for our officials to get in the same room, network with one another and set expectations for the year to come.

“For our officials, it’s also about improvement, finding a level of consistency in how we can each fulfil our capabilities and make sure everyone is up to date with the latest regulations.

“Ultimately, it helps us deliver the highest possible standard of officiating.”
