Members, officials and volunteers were present on Saturday, 7 February to celebrate motorsport achievements that took place in 2025 as part of the Tasmanian State Awards Night in Launceston, proudly presented by Shannons.
The evening, held at Country Club Tasmania, served as an opportunity for Motorsport Australia to recognise the contributions, achievements and milestones of Tasmania-based members, participants, officials and clubs.
The evening was hosted by Tasmanian motorsport figure Rick Burt, and attendees included Tasmania State Council Chair Kim Taylor, Tasmania Elected Director Ross Ferguson and State Executive, Panel Chairs and distinguished guests, who addressed the audience and presented awards to recipients who made a recognisable impact in 2025.

“It’s fantastic to see the Tasmanian motorsport community come together to celebrate the achievements of 2025,” Ferguson said.
“These awards recognise not only the talent and dedication of competitors, but also the commitment of the officials and volunteers who make motorsport possible.
“Tasmania continues to produce outstanding participants and organisers, and nights like this are a chance to acknowledge their hard work and passion for the sport.”

Tasmania’s 2025 State Champions were honoured for their efforts in each discipline, namely Circuit Racing, Rally, Off Road, Khanacross, Supersprint, Regularity and Motorkhana.
Several special awards were presented to individuals who demonstrated exceptional dedication, commitment, and contributions to motorsport.
Officials who were recognised at the awards night included Tasmanian State Motorsport Official of the Year and Tasmanian Rally Official of the Year Nathan Newton for an outstanding contribution across rally and broader motorsport officiating in Tasmania.
Tasmanian Circuit Official of the Year Greg Mays was recognised for continuing to demonstrate a strong commitment to his role as Race Secretary with the Hobart Sporting Car Club.

The Tasmanian State Future Star Award was awarded to Oliver Wickham after competing nationally in the Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia GR Cup, where he delivered a consistently strong season and went on to claim the championship in his debut year.
Karen Baker was named the recipient of the Paddy and Enid Baker Memorial Trophy, recognised as a motorsport administrator who performed at a level well above reasonable expectations.
The Police Commissioner’s Trophy for Outstanding Achievement went to Yvonne Payne for a major contribution to motorsport made by an organiser, competitor or official and Josh Webster collected the Ron & Ivy McDonald Circuit Racing Trophy for outstanding performances and contributions to circuit racing.

The 2025 Tasmanian State Event of the Year was awarded to North West Car Club for the 2025 Buckby Motors Rally Tasmania. As the Tasmanian round of the Australian Rally Championship, it required extensive planning and coordination across multiple municipalities and delivered a Rally Show and Super Special Stage. The event was later named Burnie City Council’s Community Event of the Year.
Dedication and enthusiasm remains a staple of motorsport in Tasmania. Motorsport Australia congratulates all award recipients and recognises the efforts of the officials, volunteers and supporters who make the sport possible across the state.
