Esports Hub returns to Australian Grand Prix

World-class motorsport simulators will power up at the Motorsport Australia Esports Hub at the FORMULA 1 QATAR AIRWAYS AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2026.

The Esports activation located in the Technology Innovation Hub is open to pubic and will provide a glimpse into the world of virtual motorsport, and the chance for fans to try their hand at the wheel with sims set up for both juniors and adults.

Motorsport Australia Development Manager Charlie Barlow outlined how Esports is revolutionising how younger audiences in particular engage with motorsport.

“Esports is transforming the way young people connect with motorsport, offering an accessible and exciting first step into our sport,” Barlow said.

“Through high-quality sim racing experiences, we’re able to bridge the gap between gaming and real-world competition.

“This helps Motorsport Australia to create new pathways to participation, and inspire the next generation of drivers and fans.”

Motorsport Australia’s Esports experience will be a marquee attraction at this year’s Australian Grand Prix, with thousands of motorsport fans preparing to try their hand in 2026.

The zone will feature five simulator rigs, including junior, Go Kart and Elite setups, giving event-goers the chance to test their skills against a reference lap set by professional drivers.

Esports continues to be an exciting entry point into motorsport, engaging younger audiences, fostering new talent and expanding overall participation.

Powered by Motorsport Australia’s Esports partners, Esports forms part of a growing suite of lower-cost and accessible development programs available to the entire motorsport community.

Since its inception in 2023, Motorsport Australia’s Esports program has welcomed more than 1,000 Esport licenced members with more streaming in each year.
