Michele Du Buisson: An officiating leader of the future

Following a busy Australian Grand Prix weekend at Albert Park, plenty of officials made considerable positive impacts on the event. Michele Du Buisson was one of them, continuing her progression up the officials ranks as a potential leader in the coming months and years.

Cairns-based official Michele Du Buisson has become an integral part of officiating crews in recent years, providing her services at several national events around the country.

A General Official with Motorsport Australia since April 2024, Michele is coming up to her two-year milestone. Furthermore, Michele has specialised her officials skillset to circuit racing, completing her accreditation as a Bronze Circuit Official in July 2025.

Michele most recently took part in the Australian Grand Prix as a Pit Sector Marshal, looking after general pit lane officials in her capacity as an experienced member of the team.

Pit Lane Chief at the Grand Prix Rhys Carleton-Carlos was impressed by Michele’s professionalism and direction provided to her team.

Having worked alongside Michele at several national-level events previously, namely Supercars and last year’s Adelaide Grand Final, Rhys has seen Michele’s proficiency in her roles first-hand.

“The feedback I received from Michele’s team was extremely positive,” Carleton-Carlos told Motorsport Australia.

“You can sit down with Michele before an event and explain what the task is and Michele gets it, you know.

“She follows the correct processes really nicely, so I think she would develop into a great senior official in the future.

“She’s good already, but she’s a potential future leader in my eyes, which is nice to see as a senior official.”

To thank Michele for her invaluable contribution to the sport, she will receive a $100 Supercheap Auto gift card, commemorative pin and certificate.
