Strong outing at Sebring for Aussie pair

IMSA SportsCar Championship – Sebring

Porsche Penske Motorsport has again shown its endurance prowess, locking up a one-two finish at the world-renowned Sebring International Raceway in Florida with 2025 Motorsport Australia Gold Star winner Matt Campbell joining the #6 car on the second step of the podium at the 12 Hours of Sebring.

In the Outright fight, Campbell’s team and the teammate #7 Penske car quickly began their tango for the race win within the first hour of the session, engaging in a tit-for-tat race that could not be resolved until the final lap of the race.

The race was eventually won outright by Porsche Penske Motorsport’s Felipe Nasr, Julien Andlauer, and Laurin Heinrich in their Porsche 963.

The #7 car led the sister #6 car of Campbell, Kevin Estre, and Laurens Vanthoor by just one and a half seconds after 343 total laps.

In GTD, Tom Sargent was able to finish third in the #120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 alongside IndyCar star Callum Ilott and Adam Adelson, starting from seventh on the grid.

Although, the team’s result ran into a speedbump after receiving a drive-through penalty, but Ilott and Sargent drove well to keep the car in podium contention.

“ To be honest, it’s a little bit unreal at the moment,” Sargent said post-race.

“Callum drove an awesome last stint, but Adam drove amazingly all day. He put in some proper times and so did Callum.

“I think we deserve this after such a disappointing outcome in Daytona, which was through no fault of our own.

“We bounced back and we didn’t make any mistakes, and it shows in our result.”

The next round of the IMSA SportsCar Championship takes place at the Grand Prix of Long Beach, held on 18 April with GTP and GTD in action.
