The schedule for this year’s Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix has been announced with four jam packed days to make up the highly anticipated 2023 edition of the event.
 
Running at the end of March and the start of April, the FIA Formula 1 World Championship will be joined by its second and third tier championships for the first time, along with the Repco Supercars Championship and the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship Australia.
 
In keeping of its traditional format, the world’s premier racing category will have five official track sessions throughout the weekend with two practice sessions on Friday and the final practice on Saturday morning.
 
The three-part qualifying session will then run on Saturday afternoon before the third official race of the 2023 season begins at 3pm AEST, where Australian Formula 1 fans will be able to cheer on Aussie rookie Oscar Piastri for the first time.
 
Piastri won’t be the only internationally based Australian in action throughout the weekend with four drivers spread across the FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 Championships.
 
Alpine Academy driver Jack Doohan will once again be racing with Virtuoso Racing as he enters his second season in Formula 2 in the hopes of improving on his outright sixth place from 2022.
 
Doohan and the rest of the Formula 2 field will have practice and qualifying on Friday, the top-10 reverse grid sprint race on Saturday and the feature race on Sunday as the precursor to Formula 1.
 
The FIA Formula 3 Championship has a similar schedule with both practice and qualifying to run on Friday, the sprint race on Saturday and the feature race on Sunday morning.
 
Three Aussies are locked in for the Formula 3 Championship, with Hugh Barter, Christian Mansell and Tommy Smith all graduating from their respective championships to compete in the F1 feeder series.
 
As for the domestic categories, both Supercars and the Porsche Carrera Cup will be the only categories on show on Thursday, with each having practice, qualifying and one race.
 
Supercars will once again run its Beaurepaires Melbourne 400 and have the rest of its races spread over the remaining three days – with the final race to run in between Formula 2 and 3 on Sunday, while the Carrera Cup’s third and final race will wrap up proceedings on Saturday afternoon.

The Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix takes place at Albert Park on 30 March – 2 April.
