A mainstay of the Australian Grand Prix, our passionate car clubs are shining at Albert Park, with their best vehicles on show for the crowd across the four-day event.
Located on either side of Pit Stop park, between turns eight and ten at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, the Motorsport Australia Sporting and Enthusiast car clubs are showcasing a wide variety of marques, spanning many eras of automotive history.
From circuit racing classics to off road ramblers, the car club displays have something for everyone to admire.
For Brett, a member from the Melbourne Cobra Owners Club, the Grand Prix is a great place to mingle with like-minded enthusiasts.
“It’s about getting out, having a good time, watching good drivers and talking to people about cars,” Brett said.
“It’s different to any other car show, there are a lot more people and there is a lot more to do. It’s all about meeting other people who also love their vehicles.”

Peter, a member of the Jaguar Car Club of Victoria echoed Brett’s comments.
“Being here gives us a great opportunity to talk to people who love Jaguars,” Peter said.
“It also gives us the chance to show off our cars.
“As you can see here today, we’ve got a good range. Right through from the original Sharp racing car, a Lightning McQueen charity XK, plus a few older ones like the Mark 5 and the XK150.”

The Renault Car Club of Victoria also took the opportunity to boast about their line-up.
“The atmosphere here has been good. Excellent in fact,” Andrew, a member of the club said.
“We’ve had a lot of interest, with the two Alpines and the Gordini probably getting the most. The Gordini is the sole surviving member of the works rally team.”

Frank, the Membership Secretary of the Austin Healey Sprite Drivers Club expanded on why his club makes an appearance every year.
“It’s a bit of exposure [being at the Grand Prix],” Frank said.
“A lot of people like to stop and look at these old cars. Most people who stop and look have never seen a Sprite before.
“We’ve had a group of cars on display here for every Grand Prix since 2014. We’ve even done the presentation lap three times.
“Generally we display our cars at various historic race meetings. Ours is just a social club but we have plenty of members that race. A lot compete in hillclimbs or motorkhanas.”
