A successful collaboration between Motorsport Australia’s FIA Girls on Track program and Supercars officials team is building the foundation for young women to play crucial roles at the country’s top level of competitive motorsport.
At the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 round of the Supercars Championship, nine Girls on Track – Empower participants worked alongside the Supercars Coates Volunteer Team over three days.
Each participant rotated through the three specific areas learning from experienced Motorsport Australia-accredited officials to experience the requirements needed to conduct scrutineering, gate checking and flag marshalling.

Supercars Volunteers and Events Coordinator Emily-Kate Williams noted each participant was a great addition to the Volunteers team.
“From day one, they were switched on and ready to learn. It was fantastic to see them exploring the different officiating roles over the three days and start finding what they enjoyed most,” Williams said.
“Getting more women into officiating brings diversity, fresh ideas and inspires others to get involved.
“This program focuses on opening doors and growing the volunteer base in motorsport, while giving participants a true appreciation for the work that goes into running an event.
“It is hands on and eye-opening, while helping participants build practical skills like track safety and awareness that are essential for anyone pursuing a career in motorsport.”

Motorsport Australia and the Supercars Volunteers Team will explore further officiating opportunities in 2026 through collaborations with the Girls on Track – Empower program.
