SXS class restructure announced for 2027

SXS class restructure announced for 2027

Motorsport Australia will introduce a restructure of the Side-by-Side (SXS) Category in 2027, with competitors set to be grouped into two subclasses based on vehicle performance capability.

The changes aim to better reflect current participation trends and create a more balanced competitive environment, while retaining a single overall SXS Category.

Under the revised structure, the SXS Pro class will cater for high-performance vehicles such as the Can-Am Maverick R and Polaris RZR Pro R.

The SXS Sport class will accommodate all other eligible SXS vehicles, including the Can-Am Maverick X3 and other eligible Polaris and Yamaha models.

The restructure is designed to provide greater competitive opportunities for competitors running older vehicle models, while strengthening participation in the SXS Sport class.

By aligning competitors more closely with their vehicles’ performance capabilities, the changes are also intended to support a clearer development pathway for SXS competitors at the grassroots to state and national levels.

The updated structure will take effect from the 2027 season, providing competitors with an opportunity to prepare for the changes ahead.

Competitors seeking further information or wishing to discuss the restructure can contact Motorsport Australia’s Off Road team via offroad@motorsport.org.au.
