Log Book Frequently Asked Questions
A log book is evidence of registration of an automobile with Motorsport Australia. It contains a description and specification of the automobile to which it refers.
In accordance with Schedule L of the Motorsport Australia Manual, a log book is required at all race meetings, state level and higher speed events, rallies (other than introductory) and off road events.
Yes, you can. You need to be the bona fide legal owner of the vehicle in order to obtain a log book, but it is not necessary to hold a Motorsport Australia licence. Please note that if you wish to enter the vehicle at an event in your name you will need to have a Motorsport Australia licence. No, your car must be inspected by an approved scrutineer before a logbook can be issued. For a list of accredited scrutineers see a list in the resources below.
All new log book applications can be sent to Motorsport Australia via post (PO Box 172, Canterbury LPO, VIC 3126), email or in person at Motorsport Australia House (275 Canterbury Rd, Canterbury, Victoria). Motorsport Australia accepts cheque, money order or credit card. New log books cannot be issued by offices outside Victoria.
Yes, you are able email the form and photos to logbooks@motorsport.org.au.
You must return the log book to Motorsport Australia. It will be cancelled and returned to you.
As of 1 January 2020, CAMS will be known as Motorsport Australia. Despite this rebrand, your existing CAMS log book remains current and valid and you do not need to do anything.
