The best of the countries formula drivers. Both real world and sim racers combined. This is a 40min race, the car's fuel tank capacity is set to 50% meaning drivers will need to pit unless there are a few safety cars or some serious fuel saving. There are no fast repairs in this series so the consequences for car damage are dire, we are expecting retirements from damage during the season. It's a standing start, 30 car grid with live stewarding, race control, safety car and broadcast on Simspeed TV. The weather for each track is set to the real world forecast with a 20% variance so drivers can set up their cars to what is expected however like in the real world, things can change. Expect rain! Race Of Champions makes its Australian debut in 2025 The iconic Race Of Champions (ROC) will visit Australia for the first time in its more than 35 year history next March, with the event taking place at Accor Stadium in Sydney. Last run in 2023 on the snow and ice of Sweden, ROC will now travel 15,000 kilometres across the globe to the sun-drenched landscape of Sydney for a brand-new high octane challenge on the field at Accor Stadium. With a history dating back to 1988, the Race Of Champions has been held at some of the world’s greatest venues – including Beijing’s Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium, Stade de France in Paris, London’s Olympic Stadium and Wembley Stadium, Mexico City’s Foro Sol plus a wide range of exotic locations all over the globe from Bangkok to Barbados to Miami to Riyadh to Mexico City and the Arctic Circle in Sweden. The ROC racing format is a unique, winner-takes-all contest that gives drivers from various disciplines of motorsport the opportunity to test their talents against competitors they would never typically encounter. ROC is renowned for gathering some of the best drivers in the World, including superstars from Formula 1, Le Mans, IndyCar, Nascar, World Rally and Rallycross—legends like Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Sébastien Loeb, David Coulthard, Marcus Grönholm, and Jenson Button. This also includes along other international stars like Nascar champions Jimmie Johnson, Kurt and Kyle Busch, and Jeff Gordon; Ryan Hunter-Reay and Josef Newgarden of IndyCar; Formula E Champion Lucas Di Grassi; Extreme sports star Travis Pastrana; and Indy 500 champs Juan-Pablo Montoya and Helio Castroneves. The Race Of Champions will run over two nights with the purpose built track taking centre stage at Accor Stadium, seeing the ROC Nations Cup take place on Friday 7th, with drivers pairecd up in teams based on nationality to bid for the title of ‘World’s Fastest Nation’. The Saturday night will see the individual Race Of Champions, when all teamwork goes out of the window and it will be a flat-out battle for individual glory and the ‘Champion of Champions’ Title. The event will not only celebrate the Global motorsport elite but also give an opportuntity to celebrate the rich motorsport history of Australia with top Australian drivers competing head-to-head with the World's best. Sydney, known for its iconic landmarks and vibrant sports culture, will be an exhilarating stage for the Race Of Champions. “We are incredibly excited to bring the Race Of Champions to Australia for the first time ever,” said Fredrik Johnsson, Race Of Champions President and co-founder. “ROC has always been about pushing drivers to their limits in unique conditions. Australia has a rich motorsport heritage, and we're looking forward to celebrating that by pitting some of the best Australian drivers against some of the world’s most legendary racing stars in a spectacular showdown in the middle of Accor Stadium.” Confirmed to make a start in the 2025 event, seven-time Supercars Champion Jamie Whincup will again represent Australia – having previously competed in the 2012 and 2014 events. “I had a great time competing at the Race Of Champions World Finals in Bangkok and Barbados. I'm thrilled to be part of the ROC driver line up again in 2025, especially with the event being hosted in Sydney,” said Whincup. “Competing alongside some of the best drivers in the world from so many different racing series is always an incredible challenge and representing Australian motorsport on home soil now that ROC comes to Australia for the first time makes it even more special. I can't wait to get out there and give it everything for the Aussie fans.” Fans can expect a festival-like atmosphere surrounding Race Of Champions, with entertainment, activities, and a chance to witness some of the world’s best drivers up close in one of the most stunning cities in the world. “The Race Of Champions is an incredibly exciting and new event for Sydney,” said NSW Minister for Sport Steve Kamper. “This is an event like no other with the world’s best drivers to go head-to-head on Australian soil for the first time – it will be a spectacle not to be missed.” Motorsport Australia licence holders will be able to access pre-sale tickets via Ticketek from 10am AEDT on Monday 14 October, 2024. Tickets will then be on sale to the general public from Wednesday 16 October via Ticketek. Head to tegsport.com.au to join the waitlist to secure early access. The 2024 Motorsport Australia MOZA Racing FIA Motorsport Games Esports Qualifier took place at Fortress Melbourne, with two drivers securing their place on Team Australia. Twenty-four of Australia’s top Esports drivers competed for the chance to represent their country at the upcoming 2024 FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia, Spain. Held in front of an enthusiastic crowd, Jake Burton and Philippa Boquida took victories in iRacing and Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC) respectively to claim the two spots for the highly anticipated international competition. Competing across the two different platforms, the gaming venue saw drivers split into two groups of 12 drivers respectively – with a spot reserved for one driver from each platform on Team Australia. The event began with the Esports GT Round One and last chance qualifier, followed by Esports F4 Round One and its subsequent last chance qualifier. At the conclusion of the respective rounds and last chance qualifiers, the drivers who progressed to the finals participated in a 30-minute race to determine the winner for their respective category. With no mandatory pit stops, the iRacing F4 race begun with Damon Woods leading the race with Marcello Rivera following closely behind. In the final handful of minutes of racing, Woods and Rivera’s battle boiled over into a collision, leaving the opportunity for Jake Burton to become the new race leader. Burton’s path to victory made for dramatic viewing, having sat in the top four during the majority of the race and behind Vermillion Motorsports’ Zach Rattray-White. An experienced driver, Burton had not expected to win, having faced his own difficulties at the beginning of the race. “It was a little bit unexpected to be honest. I made some mistakes early on which really hurt us. I thought I was out of it to be honest. I knew there was a chance that they [Damon Woods and Marcello Rivera] might come together,” Burton said. “Fortunately for me they did, but a bit of a shame for Damon and Marcello, they put together a really good night, so it was a shame it happened but so excited to go to Spain and represent Australia and Motorsport Australia. “It will be totally new, it's kind of fitting that the Olympics are around now as well. It's getting me a little patriotic, so I'm excited to get out there.” “It's been really good, everything has been super professional, obviously out in these awesome Next Level Racing rigs, that's been so much fun.” Next were the Assetto Corsa Competizione drivers ready to compete for the remaining ticket to Spain. Philippa Boquida delivered a thrilling performance, starting from pole position and leading the race from start to finish. Despite facing early challenges, included a track limit warning on the first lap and a close call with Zach Smith, Boquida maintained position to take the win. “I'm feeling pretty happy, I came here feeling a bit stressed, a little bit anxious, but in the end I had a big pace advantage and took advantage of it,” Boquida said. “I got a track limit warning on the first lap, and had a little scare with [Zach] Smithy tapping the back of my car in turn four, managed to catch it, I was a bit scared but in the end I just drove off.” Boquida will now represent Team Australia for a second time, having been part of the squad in the 2022 edition of the FIA Motorsport Games. “I'm happy to represent the country again, it's such an awesome feeling,” Boquida added. The event was hosted at Fortress Melbourne, providing a unique experience for competitors and spectators. The two races were also streamed live across Motorsport Australia’s social channels, with the full replay now available to watch on the Motorsport Australia YouTube Channel. Jake Burton and Philippa Boquida will next head to Valencia, Spain this October for the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games.
