Education - Motorsport Australia
Education, Awareness and Resources

Motorsport Australia is committed to ensuring that all competitors, support personnel and other relevant people are well-informed about their anti-doping rights and responsibilities. There is a comprehensive range of resources and educational tools to guide and help keep members informed.

Sport Integrity Australia eLearning

Sport Integrity Australia eLearning offers several online courses relating to sport integrity, including doping, match-fixing, illicit drugs, and ethical decision-making courses. Specific anti-doping courses are also available for coaches, support personnel, medical practitioners and parents.

Education is key to protecting the integrity of Australian sport. Motorsport Australia and Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) are committed to working together to mitigate and manage integrity threats to provide a safe and fair environment for participants at all levels of sport.

This Education Plan has been developed in partnership with SIA, who will support this plan through the provision of education resources and interventions as and where possible. The Plan outlines the required and recommended education interventions for all members of Motorsport Australia to facilitate compliance with the National Integrity Framework policies, Motorsport Australia’s Anti-Doping Policy and the World Anti-Doping Code International Standard for Education (ISE).

The Education Plan documents the key online education course requirements that the relevant stakeholder groups should complete with any formal engagement with Motorsport Australia activities and events. This is in addition to completing any recruitment and screening of personnel as per the Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy prior to engagement.

Sport Integrity Australia online education courses can be found through the online education portal – members will need to create a username and password each time that you wish to complete a course. Once you have completed a course, you can download your certificate of completion and forward this to your relevant manager or organisation.

Online courses should be completed within two months (2) from your commencement date as a member (competitor and official) unless it is stipulated you are required to complete courses prior to your commencement.

If you wish to run any in-person education for a specific cohort, please contact the Motorsport Australia National Integrity & Complaints Executive at integrity@motorsport.org.au.

If you have any technical issues when you are completing your courses, please contact the Sport Integrity Australia Education Team via email to education@sportintegrity.gov.au.

PLEASE NOTE: With legislation, policy change updates and compliance changes, requirements for course completion are subject to changes at Motorsport Australia’s discretion.

A good way for younger athletes to complete their online learning requirements is to sit down with their parents/guardians or carers and chat through the content together. This is a great learning experience for parents/guardians and carers to also understand the environment in which their athletes are training and competing. All online courses are suitable for children and young people (those under 18 years of age).

Through this plan we aim to provide a safe, fair environment for members of all levels of our sport and reduce anti-doping rule violations, either deliberate or inadvertent, protect the health and wellbeing of all members and uphold the integrity of Motorsport Australia.

The Sport Integrity app is a one-stop shop for all sport integrity needs, designed with athletes in mind.

The app allows users to check whether their medications are banned in sport, find low-risk supplements to reduce their chance of testing positive, and check whether they need a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE).

The app also provides direction on how to raise concerns about things like doping, child safeguarding or discrimination. It features further information on eLearning modules, whereabouts and testing information and gives users the opportunity to provide feedback to Sport Integrity Australia.

The app is free and can be downloaded from the Apple and Android app stores.

The eSafety Commissioner is Australia’s independent regulator for online safety. The E-Safety Commissioner has created a resource space to ensure everyone has a positive experience online in sport. You can find support with many online situations including:

Sport Integrity Australia also offer the Cyber Security and Safety in Sport Course through their e-learning platform. The course covers the potential cyber threats faced by sporting organisations and equips employees with the tools to make their organisations more resilient to cyber-attacks.

Sport Integrity Australia and Play by the Rules are also great platforms to support your motorsport community or club to make your environment as safe and positive for everyone online.

If you have any enquiries or concerns about e-Safety in your community, you can always contact the Motorsport Australia National Integrity and Complaints Executive via email at integrity@motorsport.org.au or the e-Safety Commissioner for support.

The Prohibited List, updated annually by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), details all substances and methods prohibited in sport. It’s important to note that specific product or brand names are not listed.

Motorsport Australia athletes are responsible for verifying the status of any medication they use on the Global Drug Reference Online (Global DRO) before consumption. This resource provides comprehensive information on the prohibited status of various medications and ingredients.

Global DRO allows users to check whether the most commonly prescribed and over-the-counter medicines in Australia are permitted or prohibited in sport.

If an athlete requires use of a prohibited substance to treat a medical condition, the athlete needs to be aware of the TUE requirements. For more information on a TUE visit the Sport Integrity Australia website.

If an athlete or their doctor has a question regarding the status of a substance:

Play by the Rules provides information, resources, tools and free online training to administrators, coaches, officials, players, parents and spectators to assist them in preventing and dealing with discrimination, harassment, inclusion and integrity issues in sport.

The article ‘Play by the Rules – Making Sport inclusive, safe and fair’ is a great resource for all motorsport participants and members and you can read more about safe sport in the Play by the Rules Magazine.
