The Dunlop Super2 Series and Dunlop Super3 Series have confirmed a six-round season next year, with all rounds to feature as support categories for the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship.
Like this year, both series will run in a combined grid at six Supercars’ rounds with all cars to use 18-inch Dunlop tyres, while competitors in each category will battle it out for separate points in their respective series.
The joint series has also been boosted with the amount of coverage it will get with every round will be broadcast live via Fox Sports and Kayo, while some rounds will be shown live and free on the Seven Network.
Dunlop Super2 Series category manager Mark Galbraith was looking forward to a big 2021 for teams and drivers.
“Fans love it. The drivers put everything on the line every time they put on the helmet on and they get to race at some of the biggest events on the Supercars calendar,” Galbraith said.
“The competition has always been exceptional. This is due in large to teams investing heavily in young talent, not only behind the whee,l but in the workshop, developing the careers of engineers and mechanics.
Super3 Series Category Manager Liam Curkpatrick echoed Galbraith’s comments and was confident the shared grid would be a success again - especially for Super3, which previously ran under Australian V8 Touring Cars banner.
“It’s great that the two series have been able to merge again to showcase a large, strong field of Supercars,” Curkpatrick added.
“The grid share arrangement worked well in the two rounds we managed to combine for this year.
“During these uncertain times, this arrangement offers the entire field more certainty and fantastic opportunities
“We have always worked closely with Supercars and for Super2 and Super3 to now be sharing a grid provides an even stronger driver pathway.
“The V8 Touring Car/Super3 Series enters its 14th year of competition in 2021. The series has come a long way and seen many drivers pass through, often on to Super2, and go on to do fantastic things.”
The dates and locations for the six round Dunlop Super2 Series and Dunlop Super3 Series will be released in the coming weeks.
