More than 300 competitors are expected to head to the iconic Sandown Raceway this weekend for the popular Historic Sandown.

From popular modern categories including Hyundai Excels and Formula 5000 to the classic Historic Touring Cars, there will be plenty of action from a variety of categories across two-action packed days.

The Regularities will kick off qualifying on Saturday morning with all 12 categories getting a 15-minutes to sure up their grids before the first competitive events takes place on Saturday afternoon.

A full day of racing on Sunday will see each category on track twice as they look to wrap up their seasons.

While there will be a plethora of action on track to keep spectators on the edge of their seats across both days, there are also plenty of displays available for motor sport enthusiasts to get up close and personal with up to 800 cars on show.

With the event having more than 20 years experience celebrating historic and modern cars, Clerk of Course, David Vernall believes it’s an experience that should be not be missed.

“It’s probably the second biggest historic race meeting in Australia, behind only the Phillip Island Historics,” Vernall said.

“The event has a lot of credit there because we have been running for such a long time and it always attracts a terrific field.”

The Historic Sandown takes place at Sandown Raceway in Victoria on 10 – 11 November.
