2019 Commission appointments confirmed

The CAMS Board has finalised its Commissioner appointments for next year, with a new women’s Commission to officially begin in 2019.

The CAMS Board has its Commissioner appointments for next year, with a new women’s Commission to officially begin in 2019

CAMS CEO Eugene Arocca said the Commissioners served a vital role in ensuring the continued success of their respective disciplines.

“As happens each year, a number of Commissioner’s terms had come to an end and their positions are open for nomination, along with re-nominations for those who wish to continue in their roles,” Arocca said.

“The CAMS Board considers all the nominations to determine who is best suited, ensuring there is a suitable mix of Commissioners on board.”

“All our Commissioners work tirelessly and give up a significant amount of their own time to assist CAMS and . We are extremely grateful for their contributions.”

New in 2019, the Australian Women in Motor Commission (AWMSC) has appointed seven commissioners, including Triple 8 Race Engineering’s Jessica Dane, who will be Chair.

With half the nominees falling short on the opportunity to be part of the new commission, Arocca was confident seven members would be appropriate.

"We had more than 14 nominations but we felt it was important to get the right mix of talent who could focus on the Commission’s first year," Arocca explained.

"The fact that some nominees may not have been accepted is more a reflection of getting the right balance on this and the other Commissions."

Several other Chair positions were also confirmed, with Col Haste appointed Chair of the Australian Historic Motor Commission (AHMSC), Vince Ciccarello named Chair of the Australian Motor Racing Commission (AMRC) and Trevor Neumann confirmed Chair of the Australian Officials Commission (AOC).

Arocca also praised the outgoing Commissioners.

“We thank all those Commissioners who will not be continuing on next year, however with many new Commissioners coming on board, it confirms that there is some terrific succession planning in place,” Arocca added.

“On behalf of the CAMS Board, we would like to acknowledge the work of Marilyn , Murray Slana, Elaine Nikiforoff, Glen Weston and Col Trinder who will not be continuing in their Commissioner roles in 2019.”

As Commissioners are delegates of the Board of CAMS, they must meet the requirements of a Director under the Corporations Act 2001.
