Four women from motor sport, including Jessica Dane, have been selected for the 2019 Women Leaders in Sport program.
More than 300 women from across 43 sports have been selected to be involved in the 2019 Women Leaders in Sport program, with four from motor sport.
While there has been a rising recognition for female athletes’ contribution to sport in Australia, the program aims to further develop the leadership potential of female coaches, officials and administrators in sport.
Recent Dare To Be Different (D2BD) appointed ambassador Jessica Dane headlines the four motor sport representatives with CAMS’ own administration staff the remaining three.
CAMS Human Resources Manager Tamara Joy, Officials Coordinator Ainslie Gardner and Western Australia Administration Officer Simone Watkins will also receive support from the program.
Minister of Sport Bridget McKenzie was thrilled with the direction Australia was heading with the rise of women in sport from both an athletic and administration point of view.
“The rising profile of female athletes, teams and leagues is vital for promoting sporting role models, who help to inspire and motivate young girls to be active,” Minister McKenzie said.
“The rich diversity of Australian sport is symbolised by the variety of sports involved in next year’s Women Leaders in Sport program.
“Every Australian state or territory, from metropolitan and rural areas, will have participants involved in the 2019 Women Leaders in Sport program.”
The program will distribute a grant total of almost $244,000 to 60 individuals and 10 organisations to assist women with their professional development.
In addition to the 60 individual grant recipients, more than 110 more women will also be invited to attend leadership workshops staged around the country.
