There is plenty happening in motor sport around Australia this weekend, as clubs kick off their 2019 campaigns and three different State Championships get underway.
cams.com.au take a look at some events taking place, from the national stage all the way through to grassroots motor sport.
2019 CAMS WA State Speed Event Series
When: 9 February
Where: Jack’s Hill, Western Australia.
More than 40 drivers are registered to take part in the 2019 WA State Speed Event Series, which includes a mixture of sprints, hill climbs and circuit racing across 15 events throughout the year.
A variety of the series’ big names will return to this year’s competition with last year’s outright podium of Peter Morley, Ray Ferrari and Marcel Every all registered to compete at this weekend’s opening round.
The Jack’s Hill hill climb is the first event for 2019 and despite last year’s corresponding round not happening, the return of the hill climb to the series is expected to be the perfect start to the year.

2019 Nabiac Rallysprint
When: Sunday 10 February
Where: Nabiac Motor Sport Complex, New South Wales
Taking place on private roads in the Nabiac Motorsports Complex, Rally NSW will hold its first official event for 2019 this weekend, the popular Nabiac Rallysprint.
With the event designed to test the skills of the driver and co-driver, as well as the reliability and mechanical condition of the competing vehicle, competitors will have the opportunity to compete in both the S1 and S2 categories, with the S1 category aimed at more introductory drivers.
Last year saw Michael South and Justin Goodreid claim outright victory over Mitsubishi Lancer pilots Richard Shimmon and Katie Fletcher in their Impreza RS and the winners will be back again to defend their title.
Rallysprint Headquarters will open at 7am local time with the first car expected to start at 9.30am. Entry is free for spectators.

BMW Drivers Club NSW 2019 Supersprint Championship Round 1
When: Sunday, 10 February
Where: Sydney Motorsport Park - Druitt Circuit, New South Wales
Another New South Wales club will start one of its major 2019 competitions over the weekend, with the BMW Drivers Club to host the first round of its Supersprint Championship.
The event is tailored to drivers with all levels of experience and as the cars tackle the track’s Druitt Circuit, a 2.8km fast and flowing circuit that includes the iconic Brabham Straight, spectators can expect some entertaining racing.
Set across a full day, the event allocates drivers to different groups made up of their own level of skills, making the event a safe and fun day, perfect for allowing new drivers the chance to get some serious track time and build confidence.
