The P3 Solutions CAMS Queensland Rally Championship will welcome a partner during the Whitsundays Festival of Motoring early next month with Zonta Whitsundays signing on for the first round.
An organisation focused on empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy, Zonta Whitsundays will provide the festival with a large number of volunteers to help make the rally and event possible.
The global company has a local Zonta Whitsundays club, which consists of over 40 local women from central Queensland and will also sponsor the RallyCars.com.au Racing Team for the festival’s main attraction, the Rally Whitsundays.
With the experienced Melinda Bergmann and Larisa Biggar behind the wheel of the Mitsubishi Lancer for the rally,Zonta Whitsundays’ Director of Advocacy, Amanda Walter was excited to have the company part of the event.
“The Queensland rally has become a much bigger program for us and we are thrilled to be a part of,”Walter said.
“It provides a unique platform at which to highlight our values to a totally new audience and we can’t wait to cheer the team on as they cross the finish line.
“May, also marks Queensland Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month which Zonta campaigns to raise community awareness of domestic and family violence and to send a clear message that violence of this sort will not be tolerated.
“Melinda and Larisa have demonstrated a worthiness of Zonta’s support in honouring their dedication and commitment in recognising their success of third outright in the 2018 Queensland Rally Championship.
“Furthermore, these female competitors are inspiring representatives of what Zonta values – capable women who aspire to be the best they can and provide role models for young women who will then see opportunities for success in a different field.”
Zonta Whitsundays won’t be the only company getting behind the all female team, with Shingley Beach Resort also signed up, Bergmann was thrilled to have the support of both companies supporing them.
“We have been overwhelmed by Zonta Whitsundays’ support for our rally team and the motoring festival and the support of Shingley Beach Resort”, Bergmann added.
“As a rallying community, we wholeheartedly support Zonta Whitsundays’ message that domestic violence is just not on”.
Acting as one of Whitsundays’ most significant motoring events, the Whitsundays Festival of Motoring takes place across three days in early May, with the rally to take place on 4 May.
A ceremonial start will occur on the eve of the rally, as fans will be able to get up close and personal with the competing crews at Abell Point Marina in Airlie Beach, before the action gets underway on the Saturday.
