Peter Carr and Matt Wyndham have taken out top honours in the Scott's Hydraulics Dondingalong Off Road Challenge after a sensational performance during the CAMS New South Wales Off Road Championship’s second round.
Carr’s victory came off the back of a brilliant opening to the two-day event, guiding their SXS turbo to a prologue victory over the 38 other competitions before claiming the first three heats of the challenge.
In second place were fellow SXS Turbo drivers Nathan Chivas and Scott O'Connor, while last year’s winner Justin Guy rounded out the podium alongside co-drivers Eric Hume and Tony Guy.
Despite not winning the remaining two heats, Carr still finished ahead of Chivas in both, extending his outright lead to 50 seconds in what was an entertaining weekend of racing.
While Guy did not have much to celebrate throughout the first four heats, with drivers having to complete four laps of the course in each heat, he was able to leave the event with a small win, claiming the fastest fifth heat time over the rest of the competition.

It was a strong way to finish for Guy, who had finished the first four heats behind both SXS Turbos, eventually winning the Pro Buggy class in the process.
One of the day’s most outstanding results came from another Pro Buggy crew as Derek Rose and Tim Baxter took out the fourth heat, despite racing in the midfield in the opening three heats.
It was the closet heat throughout the day, as Rose eventually finished three seconds ahead of Carr and stopped Carr’s attempt at a clean sweep. Unfortunately on the final heat of the day, Rose and Baxter retired after the first lap, their chances of continuing their rise up the field over.

The day was dominated by the SXS with four of the top five crews behind the wheel of the SXS Turbo, as the fourth placed Justin Chisholm and Irene Keramidas finished with a 50 second buffer over Ian and Brad Kenah.
The next three spots went to three different class winners, with Luke Kenyon grabbing sixth place and the Extreme 2WD class, Extreme 4WD winners Joshua Nurrish and Danny Krappick coming in at seventh outright and eighth placed Glenn Spizzo and Doug Cupit winning the Sportslite class.
Other class victors were Thomas Berry and Zeekiel Stokes in the Super 1650 class, Kevin Cant and Darren Smith in the SXS Sport Class, Greg and Sarah Barron in the Sportsmans and Production 4WD winners Bruce and Daniel Morgan.
The next round of the CAMS New South Wales Off Road Championship is in Milbrodale on 20-21 July.
