SA club head North to spread the passion

The EP Autosports Club has held its first interstate event.
South Australian based EP Autosports Club has gone national with the club successfully hosting a Come and Try day in central Queensland.

As EP Autosports Club members Jana and Hayden Wright recently moved to the small town of Clermont, they noticed a lack of events taking place in the Queensland town and wanted to continue their passion of motor sport.

Along with the help of Tony and Lee-Anne Rodda, who flew from South Australia to help run the event as Clerk of Course and Event Secretary, the Wrights were able to organise an event in their new hometown and build up local interest in the sport.

The event was met with an astounding amount of support from locals, as they all chipped in to help have a motor sport event run in their town for the first time – most notably BSL Earthmoving completing a project extra fast to allow the club to host its motorkhana style event on their land.

The event’s momentum carried onto neighbouring towns as a full field of entrants confirmed their position, with some competitors travelling for more than 380km just to compete and help out.

With a number of locals also getting behind the wheel of their road cars and experiencing some form of motor sport for the first time, it was day that left a mark on the community.

Now that the dust has settled on the event, the club has received interest from more people wanting to get involved, as well as a number of locals offering properties to host future events.

Following the event, Tony Rodda was proud with support shown and was gearing up for one day assisting in future events, despite being more than 2,500km away.

“It was great to see the support of many local Clermont businesses not hesitating to contribute to the event,” Rodda said.

“EP Autosports Club Inc. was excited to be able to be involved in bringing motor sport to another region of Australia with many competitors wanting another event soon.

“We had a full field of enthusiastic competitors, including many Clermont locals whom experienced motorsport for the first time enjoyed a great day, so we are looking forward to doing it again.”
