As this weekend’s Phillip Island Auto Racing Club’s (PIARC) August Access closes in, event organisers have confirmed they have extend the entry period.

Interest in the event has been strong, with the club’s decision allowing more opportunity for potential parties who initially missed out to be part of the day, with entries closing at 11.59pm on Thursday 15 August.

With Phillip Island expected to reach freezing temperatures this weekend, event organisers have also made the decision to make it a non-public meeting.

While fans will not able attend the private meeting, they will still be able to keep up to date with the action through Natsoft’s live timing, as well as through PIARC’s social media channels.

Hosting a number of staple state series, including the special Access 111 where cars of all types can enter, the event will allow drivers to focus on driving in the privatised event.

PIARC president Geoff Bull believed the event would be perfect for those looking to gain valuable track experience.

“August Access is all about entry level racing with the focus on the competitors getting on-track and having fun whilst sharpening their race craft away from public glare,” Bull said.

“It is also a great training ground for officials looking to take the step from Sprints to Racing.”

Outside of the Access 111, the headline act for the weekend will be Superkarts  with the category attracting an impressive 72 entries for the weekend’s round.

Other categories to be part of the weekend are Supersports, VicV8s and E30 BMW Improved Production Cars.

The PIARC August Access takes place at the iconic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on 17 – 18 August.
