Formula 1 calendar confirmed
Friday 30 August, 2019
Australia will host the opening race of the 2020 season.
The 2020 Formula 1 calendar is provisionally locked in, with Australia to again host the opening race – while another event with strong CAMS roots, the inaugural Vietnam Grand Prix will take place in April.
Albert Park will get the first look at the cars of 2020 – with Formula 1 teams going in to battle in mid-March, the first of a record-breaking 22 events for the year.
CAMS will play a big part in the first ever Vietnam event on 5 April, as previously reported, CAMS was chosen to help train the officials for the prestigious event.
The 70th anniversary season’s first race takes place on 15 March in Australia, before a trip to Bahrain and then Vietnam’s Hanoi street circuit joins the world’s biggest race card a fortnight later.
Another fresh face on the calendar sees the return of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort on 3 May.
Throughout the year, there will be seven back-to-back race weekends including from Australia to Bahrain, meaning a short turnaround for all teams on those occasions.
