Friday 13 September, 2019
Another international superstar will line up this month in the carsales TCR Australia Series.
As the carsales TCR Australia Series reaches the pointy end of its inaugural season, Wall Racing has brought in an international star for this month's penultimate round at the Shannons Nationals.

Making the journey all the way from Argentina to get behind the wheel of Wall Racing’s #38 Honda Civic Type R is one of Honda’s leading global driving stars in Nestor Girolami.

The Argentine is currently ranked fourth in the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup, already steering his Civic to three race wins for series leaders ALL-INKL.com Munnich Motorsport.

It is a brilliant signing for the Sydney-based team who will have the South American team up with John Martin and Tony D’Alberto who sits in third place, 145 points adrift from current leader Will Brown.

“To have the factory driver out here is fantastic for us,” Wall Racing Honda Owner David Wall said of the signing.

“I’ve been working with Nestor for a while now to try and get something going. He has heard a lot about the Australian series and has been keen to see what it's all about.

“He needs no introduction to these cars and has a great range of experience right across the world.

“Hopefully we can hit the ground running for Sandown and get him straight up the front and, no doubt, it’s going to have a positive effect on our regular drivers Tony and John.”

Girolami enters Australia with a decorated past having raced around the world and enjoying success in touring car racing, including the 2014 and 2015 Súper TC2000 touring car championship titles in Argentina.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to race in TCR Australia,” Girolami said.

“I’ve never driven at any Australian circuits before and I’m looking forward to this new experience at Sandown.

“Wall Racing is an excellent team and already race winners this season and I’m sure I can work well together with John and Tony to deliver some good results.

“But it won’t be easy because the level is very high with many top drivers with experience of Supercars and GT racing and some promising young drivers.

“I know the Honda Civic Type R TCR very well, but the Michelin tyres are new for me, so getting used to the way this makes the car handle will be the big challenge initially.”

The carsales TCR Australia Series reaches will hold its sixth round of the inaugural season as part of the Shannons Nationals at Sandown Raceway.

Tickets for the Shannons Nationals sixth round are now on sale with 10 per cent of all sales going to charity partner Very Special Kids.
