CAMS and ARG secure fifth event at Bathurst

Bathurst Regional Council has confirmed it has awarded the tender for a fifth event at Mount Panorama to CAMS and Australian Racing Group (ARG) – with the event planned to become an iconic season finale on the international motor sport calendar.
 
Following a competitive tender process, CAMS CEO Eugene Arocca said it was a terrific outcome for motor sport fans and participants, with more details about the event to be made public shortly.
 
“Together with ARG we are really excited about what this event means for Bathurst and for international motor sport more broadly,” Arocca said.
 

“We’d like to thank Bathurst Regional Council for their support of our vision, which will provide something that is new, exciting and certainly very engaging at one of the world’s most famous circuits.

ARG Director Matt Braid said everyone involved was eagerly looking ahead to 2020 for the newest event on the motor sport calendar. 

“ARG and CAMS wish to thank the Bathurst Regional Council for their support and endorsement of our event and we look forward to working with the Council and the Bathurst community to make this one of the most spectacular events for motorsport fans in Australia and across the globe,” Braid said.
 
The exact categories and schedule will be unveiled in the coming months, with the emerging carsales TCR Australia Series expected to be part of the event which is scheduled for December in 2020.
 
Mayor of Bathurst Cr Bobby Bourke said the ARG and CAMS proposal would bring a range of new classes of racing to the region and provide
 
“We’re excited about the prospect of seeing new cars and drivers lining up to tackle the challenging circuit,” Cr Bourke said.
 
“Council undertook a detailed tender process to select the successful bid and we’re confident the fifth event will bring dedicated motor sport fans to the circuit in December each year as well as attract new fans to the sport.”
