Stilling itching for Cooma development

Wednesday 16 October, 2019

Fresh from taking out the ACT Clubman, development and novice awards at the Narooma Rally in August, Chris Stilling has confirmed his entry for the MTA CAMS NSW Rally Championship’s season finale in Cooma.

The 21-year-old enters the Kosciusko Automotive Monaro stages as one of the youngest drivers in the field and will be contesting for points in the state championship as well as the Techworkz Clubman Rally Series and Development Rally Series.

Behind the wheel of the Manning Automotive Datsun Stanza, Stilling’s main rival in the Development series comes in the form of James Dimmock who finished behind him at Narooma, with both drivers enjoying a successful rallying debut in Narooma.

Driving for the season finale alongside Rae Waterhouse, Stilling is looking forward to competing in his first state championship round and using the rally as a way to further development himself.

“My goal is to drive my own rally and get to the finish. I will be challenging myself and taking it as a big learning experience,” Stilling said.

“Rae keeps me on course, and she is a valued member of the team.”

Son of Australian Classic rally champion Trevor, Stilling’s debut in Narooma was an example of the natural skill the youngster possesses, finishing 14th outright and higher than a number of experienced NSW drivers.

The Kosciusko Automotive Monaro stages is the final round of the 2019 MTA CAMS NSW Rally Championship season and takes place in Cooma on 19 October.
