Jordan Love has won the 2019 Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia title to become the youngest ever winner in the Series’ history.
The 20-year-old went into the round just two points ahead of teammate and fellow title rival Dale Wood, and only needed to finish ahead of him to claim the title.
With the series holding three races during the Vodafone Gold Coast 600, it only took the first race for Love to finish ahead with the Porsche Junior finishing second behind David Wall, while Wood managed fourth place.
As Wall ended up dominating the weekend, taking out the two remaining races and securing third in the outright standings, Love and Wood continued their battle as Wood finished ahead of Love in race two.
The outright title was confirmed in the final race when Love finished in fifth place and Wood in seventh – handing the title to Love and a ticket to the 2019 Porsche Junior Shootout in Portugal.
“I can’t quite put into words right now how much this moment feels right now, to be the 2019 Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia champion,” Love said post-race.
“It’s been a challenging weekend here on the Gold Coast after being taken out in Race Two into the first corner on the opening lap.
“It’s not really the way you want the [series] to end like that, but that’s all a part of racing and we put our head down and fought back through the field.
“This year has been one hell of a journey, full of many highs and lows, and I can’t thank the entire team at Sonic Motor Racing Services for the effort they have put in to make this dream come to reality.
“It’s great for Sonic to finish first and second in the [series] with Dale Wood. It’s a credit to how strong they have been over this whole season.”

It was a similar outcome in the TAG Heuer Pro-Am class with Liam Talbot and Roger Lago’s class battle going right down to the final race, with the former coming out on top after finishing ahead in two of the three races.
A DNF to Adrian Flack in race one put him out of contention to drop to third place outright, while round winner Sam Shahin ended the year in fourth place after claiming a clean sweep of class wins.
Also taking place during Virgin Australia Supercars Championship’s Gold Coast stop, Ryan Millier won the CAMS Australian GT Championship’s sixth-round over Fraser Ross and Peter Hackett, Kel Treseder took out top honours in Aussie Racing
Cars, Tom Alexander clinched the win in the ECB SuperUte Series and Matt Nolan was victorious in Stadium Super Trucks’ return to Australia.
