The 2020 TCR Australia Series calendar has been released with an expanded nine-event schedule to take place next year.
Like this year, the category will be part of every Shannons Nationals round with two special events to take place either side of the official seven-round series.
Fans will get their first taste of the 2020 season during the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2020 in March with a standalone TCR Asia Pacific Cup, where competitors from both Australia and abroad will be fighting for a globally recognised TCR title.
The Shannons Nationals and TCR Australia Series then kicks off two weeks later at Sydney Motorsport Park, with a round on offering per month.
Throughout the season the series will head to Bathurst, Winton, The Bend Motorsport Park, Phillip Island and finish at Sandown Raceway.
The Sandown season finale won’t be the last race meeting for the year, with the TCR competitors to headline the newly announced fifth special Bathurst event to take place, with the date still to be confirmed.
Australian Racing Group Director Matt Braid was excited about the new expanded calendar and the opportunity to compete on Australia’s biggest stage.
“The Australian Racing Group is delighted to confirm the provisional calendar for the 2020 TCR Australia Series,” said Matt Braid.
“The introduction of the TCR Asia Pacific Cup is the perfect way to kick off the new season. There will be a lot at stake when our local teams go up against some of the best TCR drivers and teams from around the world on the biggest stage that this country has to offer.
“Bringing Bathurst into our series is going to be a winner for everyone. It will be fabulous to see sprint touring car racing return to the iconic track in almost 25 years too.
“The TCR calendar featuring new and high profile events, plus the ability for the competitors to race against international competition further cements TCR Australia as the most international and market relevant touring car category in the country for drivers and teams alike.”
The 2019 carsales TCR Australia Series season holds its final round next month as part of the Shannons Nationals on 15-17 November.
