The Briton has had a solid season behind the wheel, picking up 10 wins and a number of podiums, to secure the title with two rounds still remaining in the 2019 season. 




"It's just overwhelming," Hamilton said post-race. 




"It was such a tough race. Yesterday was a tough day. I really just wanted to recover and deliver the one-two. I didn't think the one-stop was going to be possible.




“I am filled with so much emotion. It is an honour to be up there with those greats.”




His teammate’s victory saw the Finn continue his fantastic recent run of form, claiming a second win in three races, while Max Verstappen rounded out the podium.




Following his fourth victory in what has been a difficult season, a thrilled Bottas was determined to take out the United States GP and equally proud for his teammate. 




“It’s a nice win, feels good. I’ve just felt very good since yesterday in the car and we had strong pace so very, very happy with the win,” Bottas said.




“It was the only thing I could really focus on and do this weekend in terms of the championship. Obviously, it wasn’t enough and Lewis got the title.




It was another good day out at the office for Daniel Ricciardo, with the CAMS Ambassador finishing the race in sixth place and just four-tenths faster than McLaren’s Carlos Sainz.




Starting the race from ninth on the grid Ricciardo had a brilliant start, charging to sixth on the opening lap before getting as a high as fifth - where he held firm for the majority of the race before being overtaken by Alex Albon on the final few laps.




It was an encouraging performance for Riccardo, who secured back-to-back points finishes for the second time this year. 




Formula 1 teams now have a bit of a break before they make their way to South America for the Brazillian Grand Prix, and the penultimate round of this year’s championship, on the weekend ending 18 November.
