Carrera Cup to offer dream prize on Le Mans stage

The 2020 Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup season is shaping up to be the biggest in history with the ultimate prize of competing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on offer.
Following Porsche’s announcement of being the official support category for the prestigious event next year, the manufacturer has opted to use the opportunity to combine Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and Porsche Carrera Cup France for a special round.
However, it has also offered one driver from each Carrera Cup series around the world to compete and the represent their country in an outright field of more than 60 cars.
As the Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia is one of the many series around the world invited to take part, drivers wanting to be eligible for the once in a lifetime opportunity must compete in the series’ opening two rounds in Adelaide and Melbourne.
The series will begin its season as a support category for the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship’s Superloop Adelaide 500 in February before heading east for the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2020 in March.
It will be at the Formula 1 season opener where the series will conduct a raffle to determine the representative for the event, pending the availability of the driver and their financial support.
With Porsche Cars Australia to provide a range of options for arrive and drive packages available for the event, Head of Motorsport Troy Bundy was excited for such an opportunity to exist.

“To race at this iconic event in a Porsche, for Australia, is an incredible opportunity for any driver, especially with the event’s special atmosphere and illustrious history.”
The special 60-car Carrera Cup round will take place as part of the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the Circuit de la Sarthe on 13-14 June.
