Lewis Martin, Managing Director Seven Melbourne and Head of Network Sport, was pleased to welcome motorsport back to the network.

“We’re thrilled to be broadcasting these great motorsport events from next year. Motorsport has long been a passion of ours at Seven, and we’ve led the way with innovative coverage of iconic Australian motorsport for decades,” Martin said.

The 2019 Shannons Nationals enjoyed a record-breaking season on and off-track, with new categories and an improved broadcast package enticing more than half a million viewers to the online livestream alone.

Seven’s arrival as the free-to-air broadcaster is off the back of a positive 12 months for what was formerly the Shannons Nationals, according to Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships Director Michael Smith.

“2019 has been undoubtedly the best ever for what was the Shannons Nationals, and this growth has ultimately culminated in this moment of our evolution,” said Smith.

“We’ve always been proud of the product, and we’re glad it has enjoyed the reception it has had on and off the track this year. Alongside our strategic partners in the Australian Racing Group, we’re very excited to deliver an even better Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships next year at Australia’s best motor racing facilities.”
